Journal ArticleDOI

Conception and pharmacodynamic profile of drospirenone.

TL;DR: DRSP prevented the mild increase of blood pressure seen under a conventional levonorgestrel-containing contraceptive and even tended to reduce pretreatment blood pressure, and powerful antiandrogenic effects were seen in gonad intact and testosterone substituted castrated male rats.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization and Comparison of Receptors for 17β-Estradiol and Progesterone in Human Proliferative Endometrium and Endometrial Carcinoma

TL;DR: Elution profiles from agarose gel and ion exchange columns, as well as electrophoretic patterns from isoelectric focusing, revealed a similarity between biochemical properties of the receptors from endometrial carcinoma and proliferative endometrium.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of the in vitro conversion of estradiol-17 beta to estrone of normal and neoplastic human breast tissue.

TL;DR: Kinetic parameters (Km-values, coenzyme requirements and maximal velocities) of a cytoplasmic, nuclear, mitochondrial and microsomal 17 beta-HSD of normal and neoplastic human mammary tissue were compared and Sulphydryl groups were shown to be essential for catalysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of Estradiol, Estrone, and Progesterone in Serum and Myometrium: Correlation with the Content of Sex Steroid Receptors and 17β-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Activity throughout the Menstrual Cycle

TL;DR: The midcycle peak of the cytoplasmic progester one-binding capacity and the increase of progesterone tissue levels at the same time were followed by an acti...
Journal ArticleDOI

Progesterone Metabolism in Normal Human Endometrium During the Menstrual Cycle and in Endometrial Carcinoma

TL;DR: Different subcellular fractions (purity checked by electron microscopy and respective marker enzymes) were incubated with 0.1 muCi 14C-progesterone, indicating the presence of a 20alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (20alpha-HSD) and 5alpha- and 5beta-reductases, and Kinetic parameters (Km-values, coenzyme requirements and maximum velocities) were determined.
