Journal ArticleDOI
Losing a jewel-Rapid declines in Myanmar's intact forests from 2002-2014.
Tejas Bhagwat,A. Hess,Ned Horning,Thiri Khaing,Zaw Min Thein,Kyaw Moe Aung,Kyaw Htet Aung,Paing Phyo,Ye Lin Tun,Aung Htat Oo,Anthony Neil,Win Myo Thu,Melissa Songer,Katherine J. LaJeunesse Connette,Asja Bernd,Qiongyu Huang,Grant M. Connette,Peter Leimgruber +17 more
TL;DR: It is found that forests cover 42,365,729 ha or 63% of Myanmar, making it one of the most forested countries in the region, but severe logging, expanding plantations, and degradation pose increasing threats.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA Methyltransferase Inhibitor Zebularine Induces Human Cholangiocarcinoma Cell Death through Alteration of DNA Methylation Status
Kazuaki Nakamura,Kazuhiko Nakabayashi,Kyaw Htet Aung,Kazuko Aizawa,Naoko Hori,Junji Yamauchi,Kenichiro Hata,Akito Tanoue +7 more
TL;DR: The present and previous studies indicate that zebularine could function as both a DNMT inhibitor and a non-DNMT inhibitor reagent, and that, while the optimal usage of zebularityine may depend on cancer type, zebULARine may be useful for chemotherapy against cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of neurite outgrowth and alteration of cytoskeletal gene expression by sodium arsenite.
Kyaw Htet Aung,Ryohei Kurihara,Shizuka Nakashima,Fumihiko Maekawa,Keiko Nohara,Tetsuya Kobayashi,Shinji Tsukahara +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that neurite outgrowth was suppressed by NaAsO(2) prior to NaAs O(2)-induced apoptosis, as well as the changes in cytoskeletal gene expression that are likely responsible for the inhibitory effects of Na asO( 2) on neuriteOutgrowth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prenatal Exposure to Arsenic Impairs Behavioral Flexibility and Cortical Structure in Mice
Kyaw Htet Aung,Chaw Kyi-Tha-Thu,Kazuhiro Sano,Kazuaki Nakamura,Akito Tanoue,Keiko Nohara,Masaki Kakeyama,Chiharu Tohyama,Shinji Tsukahara,Fumihiko Maekawa +9 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that prenatal exposure to NaAsO2 leads to behavioral inflexibility in adulthood and cortical disarrangement in the PrL might contribute to this behavioral impairment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of sodium arsenite on neurite outgrowth and glutamate AMPA receptor expression in mouse cortical neurons
Fumihiko Maekawa,Takashi Tsuboi,Manami Oya,Kyaw Htet Aung,Shinji Tsukahara,Luc Pellerin,Keiko Nohara,Keiko Nohara +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the NaAsO2 concentration inducing neurite suppression is lower than the concentration that induces cell death and is the same as the Concentration that suppresses GluA1 expression, which seems at least partly responsible for neurite suppressed outgrowth.
