Journal ArticleDOI
Feasibility of circumferential pulmonary vein isolation using a novel endoscopic ablation system.
Boris Schmidt,Andreas Metzner,Kyoung Ryul Julian Chun,Dionysios Leftheriotis,Yasuhiro Yoshiga,Alexander Fuernkranz,Kars Neven,Roland Richard Tilz,Erik Wissner,Feifan Ouyang,Karl-Heinz Kuck +10 more
TL;DR: Circumferential PVI using the novel compliant endoscopic ablation system was feasible in the majority of left PVs and minority of right PVs accompanied by a complication rate comparable to established approaches.
Journal ArticleDOI
First-line catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation: outcome of radiofrequency vs. cryoballoon pulmonary vein isolation
Florian Straube,Uwe Dorwarth,Sonia Ammar-Busch,Timo Peter,Georg Noelker,Thomas Massa,Malte Kuniss,Niels Christian Ewertsen,Kyoung Ryul Julian Chun,Juergen Tebbenjohanns,Roland Tilz,Karl-Heinz Kuck,Taoufik Ouarrak,Jochen Senges,Ellen Hoffmann +14 more
TL;DR: Although there was a trend for more recurrences and complications in the RF group, a more favourable risk profile in patients undergoing CB ablation might have biased the results.
Journal ArticleDOI
High rate of durable pulmonary vein isolation after second-generation cryoballoon ablation: analysis of repeat procedures
Stefano Bordignon,Alexander Fürnkranz,Laura Perrotta,Daniela Dugo,Athanasios Konstantinou,Bernd Nowak,Britta Schulte-Hahn,Boris Schmidt,Kyoung Ryul Julian Chun +8 more
TL;DR: Second-generation cryoballoon atrial fibrillation ablation is associated with a high rate of durable PVI in patients with ATa recurrence and the RSPV represents the PV with the greatest risk for left atrium-pulmonary vein reconnection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Remote navigation systems in electrophysiology.
Boris Schmidt,Kyoung Ryul Julian Chun,Roland Tilz,Buelent Koektuerk,Feifan Ouyang,Karl-Heinz Kuck +5 more
TL;DR: The following review will introduce the basic principles of the systems, give an insight into the merits and demerits of remote navigation, and will further focus on the initial clinical experience at the centre with focus on pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) procedures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differences of two cryoballoon generations: insights from the prospective multicentre, multinational FREEZE Cohort Substudy
Florian Straube,Uwe Dorwarth,Juergen Vogt,Malte Kuniss,Karl-Heinz Kuck,Juergen Tebbenjohanns,Arcadi Garcia Alberola,Kyoung Ryul Julian Chun,Joseph J. Souza,Taoufik Ouarrak,Jochen Senges,Johannes Brachmann,Thorsten Lewalter,Ellen Hoffmann +13 more
TL;DR: Second-generation cryoballoon demonstrated a high rate of acute PVI in a significant faster procedure, which also utilized less radiation exposure and less dual-balloon usage during an average procedure, and the safety profile remains favourable with a non-significant trend for more phrenic nerve palsies.
