Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of the First and Second Cryoballoon High-Volume Single-Center Safety and Efficacy Analysis
TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the safety and efficacy of CB ablation with spiral mapping in 484 patients with symptomatic atrial fibrillation at 1 year, and found that CBG1 and CBG2 achieved high rates of acute pulmonary vein (PV) isolation within a significant faster and less complex procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI
First-line catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation: outcome of radiofrequency vs. cryoballoon pulmonary vein isolation
Florian Straube,Uwe Dorwarth,Sonia Ammar-Busch,Timo Peter,Georg Noelker,Thomas Massa,Malte Kuniss,Niels Christian Ewertsen,Kyoung Ryul Julian Chun,Juergen Tebbenjohanns,Roland Tilz,Karl-Heinz Kuck,Taoufik Ouarrak,Jochen Senges,Ellen Hoffmann +14 more
TL;DR: Although there was a trend for more recurrences and complications in the RF group, a more favourable risk profile in patients undergoing CB ablation might have biased the results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outcomes of cryoballoon or radiofrequency ablation in symptomatic paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation.
Ellen Hoffmann,Florian Straube,Karl Wegscheider,Malte Kuniss,Dietrich Andresen,Li-Qun Wu,Jürgen Tebbenjohanns,Georg Noelker,Roland Richard Tilz,Julian Kyoung Ryul Chun,Andreas Franke,Christoph Stellbrink,Arcadi García-Alberola,Uwe Dorwarth,Andreas Metzner,Taoufik Ouarrak,Johannes Brachmann,Karl-Heinz Kuck,Jochen Senges +18 more
TL;DR: Rehospitalization due to re-ablations and adverse events during follow-up were observed significantly less frequently after CBA than after RFA, suggesting a lower risk of recurrence after C BA in paroxysmal AF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discontinuation versus continuation of renin-angiotensin-system inhibitors in COVID-19 (ACEI-COVID): a prospective, parallel group, randomised, controlled, open-label trial.
Axel Bauer,Michael Schreinlechner,Nikolay Sappler,Theresa Dolejsi,Herbert Tilg,Benedikt A Aulinger,Günter Weiss,Rosa Bellmann-Weiler,Christian Adolf,Dominik Wolf,Markus Pirklbauer,Ivo Graziadei,Hannes Gänzer,Christian von Bary,Andreas E. May,Ewald Wöll,Wolfgang von Scheidt,Tienush Rassaf,Daniel Duerschmied,Christoph Brenner,Stefan Kääb,Bernhard Metzler,Michael Joannidis,Hans-Ulrich Kain,Norbert Kaiser,Robert H. G. Schwinger,Bernhard Witzenbichler,Hannes Alber,Florian Straube,Niels Hartmann,Stephan Achenbach,Michael von Bergwelt-Baildon,Lukas von Stülpnagel,Sebastian Schoenherr,Lukas Forer,Sabine Embacher-Aichhorn,Ulrich Mansmann,Konstantinos D. Rizas,Steffen Massberg +38 more
TL;DR: The ACEI-COVID trial as discussed by the authors showed that discontinuation of chronic treatment with ACE-inhibitors (ACEIs) or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) mitigates the course o f recent-onset COVID-19.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pulmonary vein electrophysiology during cryoballoon ablation as a predictor for procedural success
TL;DR: This study, the largest to date, showed that real-time monitoring of PV conduction during cryoballoon freezing can be safely performed with a circular mapping catheter.
