The dynamic behaviour of fluidized bed reactors for solid catalyzed gas phase olefin polymerization

TL;DR: In this article, the dynamic behavior of fluidized bed reactors for ethylene and propylene polymerization is studied through detailed modelling and simulation both static and Hopf bifurcation behavior is observed and can lead to temperature runaway if special care is not taken in start-up and in normal operation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Calculation of Molecular Weight Distribution from Molecular Weight Moments in Free Radical Polymerization

TL;DR: In this article, a novel method is presented for the calculation of weight chain length distribution in free radical polymerization of vinyl monomers, where the entire range of molecular weight is divided into a finite number of intervals, and the weight fractions of polymers in these intervals are calculated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental studies on optimal molecular weight distribution control in a batch-free radical polymerization process

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental study on the control of polymer weight chain length distribution is presented for batch-free radical solution polymerization of methyl methacrylate. Butler et al. used an online extended Kalman filter to incorporate off-line molecular weight measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Discrete Optimal Control of Molecular Weight Distribution in a Batch Free Radical Polymerization Process

TL;DR: In this paper, a new method is presented for the control of weight chain length distribution of polymer in a batch free radical polymerization process, which is directly calculated using the method of finite molecular weight moments in which the weight fraction of polymers is computed over a number of finite chain length intervals covering the theoretically infinite chain length domain.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent advances in polymer reaction engineering: Modeling and control of polymer properties

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of recent developments in modeling techniques for the calculation of polymer properties including molecular weight distribution, copolymer composition distribution, sequence length distribution and long chain branching is presented.
