Journal ArticleDOI

Diseases of mites

TL;DR: In this article, an overview of studies on diseases of mites is given and the effect of Bacillus thuringiensis on mites are also treated, although its mode of action in arthropods is mainly due to the presence of toxins and it is not considered to be a pathogen in the true sense of the word.
Journal ArticleDOI

Can plants use entomopathogens as bodyguards

TL;DR: The bodyguard hypothesis is extended to ask whether plants can use entomopathogens as bodyguards and a conceptual framework for this is provided to bring evolutionary ecology and insect pathology closer together.
Journal ArticleDOI

Production and germination of primary conidia of Neozygites floridana (Zygomycetes: Entomophthorales) under constant temperatures, humidities, and photoperiods.

TL;DR: The production and germination of primary conidia of Neozygites floridana as affected by temperature, humidity, and photoperiod was studied in the laboratory and high humidities (>95%) were necessary to effect germination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toxicity of a number of pesticides to strains of Typhlodromus pyri and Amblyseius andersoni (Acari: Phytoseiidae).

TL;DR: Side effects of ten pesticides used in orchards and vineyards were tested with a laboratory method on several Dutch and Italian strains of the predatory mites andersoni and showed that a test which evaluates mortality of various developmental stages and fecundity of adult females is better than one that measures only survival of adult Female.
Journal ArticleDOI

Germination and Viability of Capilliconidia of Neozygites floridana (Zygomycetes: Entomophthorales) under Constant Temperature, Humidity, and Light Conditions

TL;DR: The germination of capilliconidia of Neozygites floridana on the cassava green mite, Mononychellus tanajoa, and the viability of these conidia collected on glass coverslips were studied at different temperatures, humidities, and light conditions.
