Journal ArticleDOI
Ploidy Manipulation and Gynogenesis in Fishes: Cytogenetic and Fisheries Applications
TL;DR: This work has shown that it is possible to suppress the first mitotic division offish eggs with high-pressure or -temperature treatments applied at the time of first cleavage to produce mitotic gynogenetic diploids and tetraploids.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic parameters of growth in rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri, as a function of age and maturity
TL;DR: Genetic correlations between size or condition factors measured at different ages were all positive, meaning selection at one stage should improve size orcondition factor at another, and selection on size after physiological differentiation should take into account the physiological status and history of each fish, if possible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic parameters of growth in rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri, prior to maturation
TL;DR: Egg weight, fry size, and fry condition factors were influenced by common environmental effects and (or) nonadditive genetic effects, but confounding of these sources of variation prevented exact estimation of their relative magnitude.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genotype × temperature interactions for growth of rainbow trout
TL;DR: Both measures of growth exhibited significant family × temperature interactions in both test periods, and families ranked differently at the two temperatures for both growth traits in both periods, suggesting selection for temperature specific strains of trout may be desirable to improve growth rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strain and maturation effects on female spawning time in diallel crosses of three strains of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
TL;DR: Female spawn date was investigated in three diverse strains of rainbow trout and two year classes of complete diallel crosses between them to find the effects of strain and year of maturation, and to estimate repeatability.
