Turbulent flow structure in experimental laboratory wind-generated gravity waves

TL;DR: The results of the measurements of the turbulent flow on the water side are presented here, the details of which include the turbulence structure, the correlation functions, and the length and velocity scales.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the problem of modeling a fundamental niche from occurrence data

TL;DR: This work addresses the problem of how to estimate a hypothetical fundamental niche from presence data by postulating a simple shape for the physiologically defined niche (Hutchinson’s fundamental niche), and providing prior information for the estimation of the parameters that define the shape of the niche.
Journal ArticleDOI

Climate change and Saharan dust drive recent cladoceran and primary production changes in remote alpine lakes of Sierra Nevada, Spain

TL;DR: High-resolution sediment cores retrieved from six remote high mountain lakes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Southern Spain indicate a regional-scale response to climate and Saharan dust deposition, and atmospheric Ca deposition appears to be a significant explanatory factor for the changes in the lake biota of Sierra Nevada.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sample Data and Training Modules for Cleaning Biodiversity Information

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed data-cleaning exercise based on two contrasting datasets is presented, with a step-by-step guide to overcoming these problems and improving data quality for analyses based on these data.
Journal ArticleDOI

General Theory and Good Practices in Ecological Niche Modeling: A Basic Guide

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a manual with the basic routines used in this field and a practical example of its implementation to promote good practices and guidance for new users, as well as a good example of how to use them.
