The influence of cannabis use expectancies on cannabis use and psychotic symptoms in psychosis

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the relationship between cannabis use expectancies, cannabis use and psychotic symptoms among cannabis using psychotic inpatients, and found that patients with DSM-IV cannabis dependence had significantly higher expectancies for negative effects from cannabis use.

Differences in substance use between sexual orientations in a multi-country sample: Findings from the Global Drug Survey 2015

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined substance use disparities among homosexual, bisexual and heterosexual adolescents and young adults from nine countries and found that higher rates of substance use in bisexuals compared with homosexuals among both genders and larger differences between female groups highlight the importance of differentiating between sexual minority identities in substance use research and designing substance misuse interventions for people with a sexual minority identity.

TL;DR: Thematic analysis of the interviews indicated that a negative social media representation and commentary can affect young men's self-esteem and increase body concern, consistent with the sociocultural framework whereby negative representations can lead to increased body dissatisfaction.
