Randomised factorial trial of falls prevention among older people living in their own homes
Lesley Margaret Day,Brian N Fildes,Ian Gordon,Michael Fitzharris,Harold Flamer,Stephen R. Lord +5 more
TL;DR: Group based exercise was the most potent single intervention tested, and the reduction in falls among this group seems to have been associated with improved balance, most applicable to Australian born adults aged 70–84 years living at home who rate their health as good.
Journal ArticleDOI
The reliability and predictive accuracy of the falls risk for older people in the community assessment (FROP-Com) tool
TL;DR: The FROP-Com demonstrated good reliability and a moderate capacity to predict falls and fills the gap between the short screening tools and the longer assessment tools, e.g. the physiological profile assessment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of the Falls Risk for Older People in the Community (FROP-Com) screening tool
Melissa Russell,Keith D. Hill,Lesley Margaret Day,Irene Blackberry,Lyle C. Gurrin,Shyamali C. Dharmage +5 more
TL;DR: The FROP-Com screen has a relatively good capacity to predict falls and can be used in time-limited situations to classify those at high risk of falls who require more detailed assessment and management.
Journal Article
Interventions for preventing injuries in the agricultural industry (Protocol)
Risto Rautiainen,Marika M. Lehtola,Lesley Margaret Day,Simo Salminen,Eva Schonstein,Juha Suutarinen +5 more
TL;DR: The selected studies provided no evidence that educational interventions are effective in decreasing injury rates among agricultural workers, and legislation to ban pesticides could be effective.
Journal ArticleDOI
Falls Risk and Functional Decline in Older Fallers Discharged Directly From Emergency Departments
TL;DR: Older fallers discharged directly from the ED have a high prevalence of falls risk factors and are at risk of functional decline, according to this cross-sectional study.
