Journal ArticleDOI
Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans biofilm can be inactivated by methylene blue-mediated photodynamic therapy
Letícia Heineck Alvarenga,Renato Araujo Prates,Tania Mateus Yoshimura,Ilka Tiemy Kato,Luis Cláudio Suzuki,Martha S. Ribeiro,Luis Rodolfo Ferreira,Silvio Antonio dos Santos Pereira,Elizabeth Ferreira Martinez,Eduardo Saba-Chujfi +9 more
TL;DR: The results of this study suggest that A. actinomycetemcomitans biofilm can be inactivated by MB mediated APDI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy on Streptococcus mutans is altered by glucose in the presence of methylene blue and red LED.
Cintia Raquel Lima Leal,Letícia Heineck Alvarenga,Tamires de Oliveira-Silva,Ilka Tiemy Kato,Bianca Godoy-Miranda,Sandra Kalil Bussadori,Martha S. Ribeiro,Renato Araujo Prates +7 more
TL;DR: The presence of glucose in the suspension drastically delayed the effect of aPDT on S. mutans and this effect is more pronounced in bacterial suspension than on biofilm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parameters for antimicrobial photodynamic therapy on periodontal pocket-Randomized clinical trial.
Letícia Heineck Alvarenga,Ana Carolina Gomes,Pamela Carribeiro,Bianca Godoy-Miranda,Giovane Noschese,Martha S. Ribeiro,Ilka Tiemy Kato,Sandra Kalil Bussadori,Christiane Pavani,Yhago Gazote Eloy Geraldo,Daniela de Fátima Teixeira da Silva,Anna Carolina Ratto Tempestini Horliana,Mark Wainwright,Renato Araujo Prates +13 more
TL;DR: Within the parameters used in this study, PDT mediated by methylene blue in a surfactant vehicle reached significant microbial reduction levels with 5 min of irradiation, indicating the clinical use of PDT may be limited by factors that reduce the antimicrobial effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of two different decellularization routes on the mechanical properties of decellularized lungs.
Jessica Julioti Urbano,Renata Kelly da Palma,Flávia Mafra de Lima,Paula Fratini,Leticia Lopes Guimarães,Juan J. Uriarte,Letícia Heineck Alvarenga,Maria Angélica Miglino,Rodolfo de Paula Vieira,Renato Araujo Prates,Daniel Navajas,Ramon Farré,Luis Vicente Franco de Oliveira +12 more
TL;DR: It was demonstrated that there is no significant difference in the behaviour of mechanical properties and extracellular matrix of the decellularized lungs by using two different routes through the trachea and pulmonary artery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of red light scattering in gingival tissue - in vivo study.
Letícia Heineck Alvarenga,Martha S. Ribeiro,Ilka Tiemy Kato,Silvia Cristina Núñez,Renato Araujo Prates +4 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrated that at a 3 mm distance from the laser probe, there is an attenuation of light intensity of 50%, along frontal and occlusal views, should be considered when setting optimal parameters for antimicrobial photodynamic therapy or photobiomodulation.
