Structural health monitoring technology can assess the status and integrity of structures in real time by advanced sensors, evaluate the remaining life of structure, and make the maintenance decisions on the structures. Piezoelectric materials, which can yield electrical output in response to mechanical strain/stress, are at the heart of structural health monitoring. Here, we present an overview of the recent progress in piezoelectric materials and sensors for structural health monitoring. The article commences with a brief introduction of the fundamental physical science of piezoelectric effect. Emphases are placed on the piezoelectric materials engineered by various strategies and the applications of piezoelectric sensors for structural health monitoring. Finally, challenges along with opportunities for future research and development of high-performance piezoelectric materials and sensors for structural health monitoring are highlighted.

The invention discloses a preparation method of a flexible piezoresistive sensor of a transformer. The preparation method comprises the steps of preparing a matrix mixed solution; spraying the matrixmixed solution on the outer surface of the transformer body to form a piezoresistive layer; and forming an electrode which is partially laminated with the piezoresistive layer on the outer surface ofthe transformer body to form a flexible piezoelectric sensor. According to the method, the substrate mixed solution is prepared firstly; then the substrate mixed solution is sprayed on the outer surface of the transformer body to form the piezoresistive layer on the outer surface of the transformer body; finally, the electrode partially stacked with the piezoresistive layer is formed on the outersurface of the transformer body; and finally, the flexible piezoelectric sensor is formed. The prepared flexible piezoresistive sensor is high in speed and is formed on the outer surface of the transformer, and even if the flexible piezoresistive sensor is damaged in a using process, the flexible piezoresistive sensor is convenient to maintain and replace. The invention further provides a transformer. The transformer comprises the flexible piezoresistive sensor prepared by the method.

The invention discloses a flexible sensor manufacturing device and a manufacturing method of a flexible sensor. The flexible sensor manufacturing device comprises a mechanical arm, a spraying gun, a polarization gun and a dispensing gun, wherein the spraying gun is connected to an execution terminal of the mechanical arm and used for spraying a liquid matrix on the surface of a to-be-sprayed workpiece to form a layer of piezoresistive film on the surface of the to-be-sprayed workpiece; the polarization gun is connected to the execution terminal of the mechanical arm and used for ionizing air to generate negative ions and spraying the air containing the negative ions to the piezoresistive film so as to polarize the piezoresistive film; the dispensing gun is connected to the execution terminal of the mechanical arm and used for manufacturing an electrode coating on the polarized piezoresistive film; and the execution terminal of the mechanical arm synchronously carries the spraying gun,the polarization gun and the dispensing gun to move on the surface of the to-be-sprayed workpiece along a preset path. By arranging the spraying gun, the polarization gun and the dispensing gun on theexecution terminal of the mechanical arm at the same time, the flexible sensor manufacturing device can well solve the problem that flexible sensors on the surface of complex mechanical parts are difficult to manufacture.
