A robust experimental protocol for pharmacological fMRI in rats and mice
Livia Ferrari,Giuliano Turrini,Valerio Crestan,Simone Bertani,Patrizia Cristofori,Angelo Bifone,Alessandro Gozzi +6 more
TL;DR: A thorough methodological description of a robust protocol to measure drug-induced cerebral blood volume changes in anaesthetised rats and mice and the successful application of the protocol to map the central effects produced by d-amphetamine in C57Bl/6J mice, thus paving the way to the implementation of phMRI in genetically engineered animals.
Journal Article
Evaluation of two combinations of Domitor, Zoletil 100, and Euthatal to obtain long-term nonrecovery anesthesia in Sprague-Dawley rats.
Livia Ferrari,Giuliano Turrini,Chiara Rostello,Alessia Guidi,Alessandro Casartelli,Alessandro Piaia,Matteo Sartori +6 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that, when long-term nonrecovery anesthesia is required, doses of 50 microg/kg Domitor and 20 mg/kg Zoletil 100 are preferable when given with Euthatal to maintain physiological conditions in animals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Brain penetration of local anaesthetics in the rat: Implications for experimental neuroscience.
Livia Ferrari,Valerio Crestan,Giancarlo Sabattini,Federica Vinco,Stefano Fontana,Alessandro Gozzi +5 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that peripheral administration of local anaesthetics in small laboratory animals could result in pharmacologically active brain exposures that might influence and confound central measurements of brain function.
