Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of age and physical activity on the autonomic control of heart rate in healthy men.
Ruth Caldeira de Melo,Michele Daniela Borges dos Santos,Ester da Silva,Robison José Quitério,Marlene Aparecida Moreno,Michel Silva Reis,I. A. Verzola,L. Oliveira,Luiz Eduardo Barreto Martins,Lourenço Gallo-Júnior,A. M. Catai +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that aging reduces HR variability, however, regular physical activity positively affects vagal activity on the heart and consequently attenuates the effects of aging in the autonomic control of HR.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of aerobic exercise training on heart rate variability during wakefulness and sleep and cardiorespiratory responses of young and middle-aged healthy men
A. M. Catai,A. M. Catai,Mara Patrícia Traina Chacon-Mikahil,F S. Martinelli,V A.M. Forti,Ester da Silva,R. Golfetti,Leb Martins,J S Szrajer,J S Wanderley,E.C. Lima-Filho,Luis Aparecido Milan,José Antonio Marin-Neto,Benedito Carlos Maciel,Lourenço Gallo-Júnior +14 more
TL;DR: The resting bradycardia induced by short-term APT in both age groups suggests that this adaptation is much more related to intrinsic alterations in sinus node than in efferent vagal-sympathetic modulation, and the greater alterations in VO2 than in HRV may be related to short- term APT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heart rate variability in athletes and nonathletes at rest and during head-up tilt
F S. Martinelli,Mara Patrícia Traina Chacon-Mikahil,Luiz Eduardo Barreto Martins,E.C. Lima-Filho,R. Golfetti,Mário Augusto Paschoal,Lourenço Gallo-Júnior +6 more
TL;DR: In athletes the resting bradycardia seems to be much more related to changes in intrinsic mechanisms than to modifications in autonomic control, based on the analysis of data by the frequency domain method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pilot study testing the effect of physical training over the myocardial perfusion and quality of life in patients with primary microvascular angina
Eduardo Elias Vieira de Carvalho,Giovani Luiz De Santi,Júlio César Crescêncio,Luciano Fonseca Lemos de Oliveira,Daniela Caetano Costa dos Reis,Alexandre Baldini de Figueiredo,Antonio Osvaldo Pintya,Moysés de Oliveira Lima-Filho,Lourenço Gallo-Júnior,José Antonio Marin-Neto,Marcus Vinicius Simões +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that APT can be a valid therapeutic option for patients with PMA and is associated with reduction of myocardial perfusion abnormalities, increasing of physical capacity, and improvement in QOL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aerobic Training after Myocardial Infarction: Remodeling Evaluated by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance.
Nataly Lino Izeli,Aurélia Juliana dos Santos,Júlio César Crescêncio,Ana Clara Campagnolo Real Gonçalves,Valéria Papa,Fabiana Marques,Antonio Pazin-Filho,Lourenço Gallo-Júnior,André Schmidt +8 more
TL;DR: A positive remodeling was identified in the trained group, where a left ventricular diastolic dimension increase was associated with LVmass reduction and a positive remodels in the TG improved physical capacity and other cardiovascular variables.
