This paper examines the relationship between cashflow and organization performance from the perspective of the hospitality and print media industrial sectors of the economy. From a pilot study, forty five small and medium enterprises (SMES) in these sectors were sampled. Data were collected through questionnaire. Analyses were performance by means of descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product moment coefficient of correlation using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Results indicate a significantly strong positive relationship between cashflow position and net profit. Consequently, cashflow position determines the extent of net profit performance of organizations in the hospitality and print media. Considering advances in technology and quality of service delivery which create competition, hospitality and print media organizations should develop strategies to enhance their cash inflow

Cashflow and organizational performance in nigeria: hospitality and print media industries perspectives

Road construction projects play vital role in the socio-economic development of Ghana but one major challenge to road construction projects is delay. The purpose of this paper is to identify from contractors’ point of view the factors that contribute to delay of road construction projects and the effects of delay. The study employed structured questionnaire survey. Respondents were selected using random sampling technique. The research study included 115 respondents, made up of 5 professionals each from 38 construction firms currently working in the region on different road projects. The results revealed six (6) major causes of delay namely; delay in honoring payment certificates, bad weather conditions, unfavourable site conditions, consultants initiated variations, delay in instructions from consultants and difficulty in accessing bank credit. The paper identifies extension of time, cost overrun, and damage to company’s reputation as the main effects of road projects delay.

Contractors’ Perception of Factors Contributing to Road Project Delay

This paper examines from the accountant’s perspective, the relationship between advances in technology of capital assets and financial performance of construction companies listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Data were collected through questionnaire. Analyses were performed by means of descriptive statistics and Pearson product moment coefficient of correlation using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). Findings indicate that advances in technology of capital assets measured in terms of efficiency have a statistically significantly strong positive relationship with financial performance. Results of descriptive statistics indicate that efficiency of capital assets arising from advances in technology of capital assets influences contract patronages by 54.5%. In conclusion, capital assets acquired without cognisance of global modernisation in machines and equipment may shortly suffer from obsolescence and thus become unable to deliver value for money services.

Accountant’s Perspective of Advances in Technology of Capital Assets and Financial Performance in Nigeria: A focus on the Construction Industry

This paper examines the influence of capital assets acquired outrightly by cash on enterprise profitability from the perspective of construction companies. Data were obtained by means of questionnaire. Analyses were performed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product moment coefficient of correlation. Results of descriptive statistics indicate 61.11% preference for acquisition of capital assets by outright cash purchase. Correlation analysis reveals a statistically significant moderate positive relationship between capital assets acquired out rightly through cash payment and net profit. Own capital assets acquired by outright cash purchase improves net profit performance of construction companies. Companies in the construction sector should aim at investing in capital assets through outright cash purchase instead of hiring or leasing.

Outright Cash Purchase of Capital Assets and Enterprise Profitability in Nigeria: A Reflection on the Construction Industry

The purpose of this paper is to identify the influence of hire purchase strategy of physical capital investment on financial performance of construction companies quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Data were obtained through questionnaire. Analyses were performed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product moment coefficient of correlation. Empirical results indicate that there exist a statistically significant negative association between hire purchase strategy of investing in physical capital and financial performance of construction companies. It was concluded that considering the complexities in service delivery, application of hire purchase as a physical capital investment option, may not provide the quantum of capital assets needed to satisfy expectations of customers.
