Journal ArticleDOI
Lifetime seismic resilience of aging bridges and road networks
TL;DR: A probabilistic approach is proposed to assess the seismic performance of transportation networks considering the uncertainties involved in the lifetime structural response of aging bridges under different earthquake scenarios and the time-variant seismic capacity associated with prescribed limit states is evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Probabilistic life-cycle seismic resilience assessment of aging bridge networks considering infrastructure upgrading
Luca Capacci,Fabio Biondini +1 more
TL;DR: The results show the capability of the proposed resilience framework in quantifying the detrimental effects of structural deterioration at the network scale and the beneficial consequences of infrastructure investments, such as enhancing the network redundancy with the construction of an additional highway branch.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resilience of aging structures and infrastructure systems with emphasis on seismic resilience of bridges and road networks: Review
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors present an overview of the main principles and concepts, methods and strategies, advances and accomplishments in the field of life-cycle reliability, risk and resilience of structures and infrastructure systems, with emphasis on seismic resilience of bridges and road networks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modelling and Seismic Response Analysis of Non-residential Single-storey Existing Precast Buildings in Italy
Marco Bosio,Chiara Di Salvatore,Davide Bellotti,Luca Capacci,Andrea Belleri,Valeria Piccolo,Francesco Cavalieri,Bruno Dal Lago,Paolo Riva,Gennaro Magliulo,Roberto Nascimbene,Fabio Biondini +11 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors assess the probabilistic seismic vulnerability with respect to the usability preventing damage and global collapse performance levels of four existing single story precast buildings designed in accordance with past Italian building codes from 1960s to 1990s in three sites with increasing seismic hazard.
Journal ArticleDOI
Life-cycle cost-based risk assessment of aging bridge networks
TL;DR: In this article, road infrastructures and bridge networks are becoming increasingly complex systems due to the development of technology in transportation engineering and the continual growth of urban communities, and they are becoming more complex systems.
