Monitoring historical masonry structures with operational modal analysis: Two case studies
Luís F. Ramos,L. Marques,Paulo B. Lourenço,G. De Roeck,A. Campos-Costa,João C. Almendra Roque +5 more
TL;DR: The paper addresses two complex case studies of modal and structural identification of monuments in Portugal: the Clock Tower of Mogadouro and the Church of Jeronimos Monastery, in Lisbon.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of Masonry Structures Without Box Behavior
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the seismic analysis of masonry structures without box behavior is presented and a comparison is made between pushover methods and non-linear dynamic analysis with time integration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling and vulnerability of historical city centers in seismic areas: a case study in Lisbon
Luís F. Ramos,Paulo B. Lourenço +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors address the issue of seismic analysis and vulnerability of historical city centers, with a specific case study: the 18th century downtown part of Lisbon, Portugal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Integrated assessment of ecosystem-scale carrying capacity in shellfish growing areas
João G. Ferreira,Anthony J.S. Hawkins,Pedro M. S. Monteiro,H Moore,PL Pascoe,Luís F. Ramos,Ana M. M. Sequeira +6 more
TL;DR: This framework was applied to three loughs in Northern Ireland to provide estimates of harvestable biomass over typical cultivation cycles of 2–3 years in both the blue mussel Mytilus edulis and the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas, and is shown to be useful for driving farm-scale simulations, which are of great interest to producers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Failure analysis of Monastery of Jerónimos, Lisbon: How to learn from sophisticated numerical models
Paulo B. Lourenço,Konrad J. Krakowiak,Francisco Manuel Carvalho Pinto Fernandes,Luís F. Ramos +3 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a case study of the Monastery of Jeronimos in Lisbon, Portugal is used for structural safety assessment, where a set of sophisticated non-linear failure analyses are performed and the consequences associated with the results obtained are discussed.
