Reduction of Carbon Dioxide by a Molybdenum-Containing Formate Dehydrogenase: A Kinetic and Mechanistic Study.

TL;DR: The ability of Desulfovibrio desulfuricans formate dehydrogenase (DdFDH) to reduce carbon dioxide was kinetically and mechanistically characterized and a kinetic model of a hysteretic enzyme is proposed to interpret and predict the progress curves of the Dd FDH-catalyzed reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for Free Radical Generation Due to NADH Oxidation by Aldehyde Oxidase During Ethanol Metabolism

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that AO acts not only upon acetaldehyde but also upon NADH, with superoxide anion radical (O2.-) formation, and the NADH oxidation by AO may play a role in ethanol-induced generation of reactive oxygen species, contributing to its hepatotoxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molybdenum and tungsten-dependent formate dehydrogenases

TL;DR: This review will highlight the present knowledge about the diverse physiological roles of FDH in prokaryotes, their modular structural organisation and active site structures and the mechanistic strategies followed to accomplish the formate oxidation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molybdenum and tungsten-containing formate dehydrogenases: Aiming to inspire a catalyst for carbon dioxide utilization

TL;DR: In this article, the molybdenum and tungsten-containing formate dehydrogenase (FDH) enzymes were used as a model to understand the mechanistic strategies and key chemical features needed to reduce carbon dioxide to formate.
