Apparatus for hyperthermia treatment provides transmission of microwave energy for irradiation of tissues and simultaneous and concurrent and continuous measurement of the temperature of the heated tissues at the site of the treatment. The microwave energy is supplied to the site of treated tissue by a coaxial applicator which is positioned near the tissue.

An electronic stethoscopic apparatus includes: a housing device (10) with a main body (11) having a plurality of switches (16, 202) and jacks (18, 19) electrically installed therein; an audio-signal amplifying device (140) and consisting substantially a pre-amplifying circuit devcice (211), a low pass filter (212) and a volume controller (203) disposed in the main body (11) and electrically coupled with the switches (16, 202) and jacks (18, 19); a battery supply (15) replaceably provided in the main body (11) and electrically connected to the audio-signal amplifying device (140); an audio-wave guiding device (30, 30ʹ) having transducers (20, 20ʹ) disposed therein for converting the audio wave into an electric signal and positioned on top of the main body (11) and electrically connected to the audio-signal amplifying device (140); a wireless redio wave transmitting device (141) also disposed in the main body (11) to receive the electric signals and transmit the same as radio signals; an upper cover (12) connected to a top end of the main body around the audio-wave guiding device (30, 30ʹ) and a body contact device (40) communicatively connected to the audio-wave guiding device (30, 30ʹ); thereby, auscultation can be made through an earphone/speaker and/or recorder for accurate diagnosis, and besides, a remote auscultation or bedside group teachings can be achieved by turning on the wireless radio wave tranmittting device (141) enabling the radio wave signals to be received by those at a remote place.

Electronic stethoscopic apparatus

A microwave oven sensing system having a humidity sensor and a temperature sensor at an exit ventilation port of a microwave oven heating cavity to sense the exiting humidity and the air temperature of the microwave oven heating cavity. The humidity sensor and the temperature sensor are positioned to sense the "in-situ" environmental conditions of the microwave oven heating cavity such as adjacent to and by the exterior of the exit ventilation port of the microwave oven heating cavity. The sensors connect to a programmable controller and input the sensed "in-situ" environmental conditions of the microwave oven heating cavity to the programmable controller. "Characteristic humidity curves" for microwave cooking of different types of foods are stored as algorithms in a memory of the programmable controlled and the programmable controller controls the microwave cooking in accordance with a selected algorithm for the sensed "in-situ" environmental conditions. A numeric keyboard control panel inputs to the programmable controller the microwave cooking parameters and selects the microwave cooking algorithm. The programmable controller controls a microwave power source control circuit and an air exchange circuit according to the selected algorithm in the programmable controller. An additional humidity sensor may be positioned in a nonhostile environment within the frame structure of the microwave oven to provide a calibration reference for the humidity sensor positioned at the exit ventilation port of the microwave heating cavity.

Microwave oven sensing system

A sensor for sensing bioacoustic energy includes a housing comprising an interfacing portion configured to establish coupling with a body part during use of the sensor. An anchoring arrangement is defined on the housing. A transducer member has an anchoring end and at least one free end. The anchoring end of the transducer is coupled to the housing such that the transducer member is arranged to be preferentially sensitive to bioacoustic energy transferred to the transducer via the interfacing portion relative to other portions of the housing.

Cantilevered bioacoustic sensor and method using same

An electronic sound amplification stethoscope including a battery powered self-contained sound amplification circuit contained in a hand held connector housing inserted in the flexible sound conduit of the stethoscope. The circuit includes a miniaturized microphone for receiving sound waves from the stethoscope pickup head and a miniaturized speaker for transmitting amplified sound waves to the stethoscope headpiece. Both the microphone and speaker may be housed in the connector housing and are vibration insulated from the housing itself. The electronic circuitry and battery power source are located in compartments separated from the microphone and speaker. A LED light source is placed in series between the amplifier circuit and the power source such that the fluctuations in its intensity are directly proportional to the power surges in the circuit. The LED is thus a visual indicator of such body functions as respiration and blood flow. The amplifier circuit is also provided with an on/off volume control thumbwheel located on the surface of the connector housing.

An electronic stethoscope device having a housing containing a microphone, transistor amplifier for the signals coming from the microphone, a power source to power the amplifier and a device to switch the power source on and off has device constructed with two parallel electrical conductors (9, 10) at a small separation from each other which are so designed and attached to the exterior of the stethoscope housing (1) that they are connected by contact of the stethoscope body to the moving skin surface. The connection of these conductors (9, 10) switches on the power source, and removal of the stethoscope from the body automatically switches the power source off.

The microwave heater is used for raising stored blood to normal body temperature, for use in transfusions, from the storage temperature of approx. +4 deg.C. A resistive temperature detector (51) provides one input to each integrated circuit comparator (52, 53). The other input corresponds to the required temperature (U5) in one case, and to a predetermined minimum temperature (U4) in the other. Both comparators give an 'on' signal to the microwave generator when the actual temperature lies between the reference limits, but either comparator can give an 'off' signal if its reference value is reached. Damage or malfunction associated with the detector (51) giving an artificially low temperature signal would thus cause the equipment to switch off thereby eliminating the possibility of further damage.
