Journal ArticleDOI

Random fiber laser.

TL;DR: A comparison with similar systems in bulk format shows that the random fiber laser presents an efficiency that is at least 2 orders of magnitude higher than the classical random laser system operating in the incoherent feedback regime.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multi-wavelength visible up-converted luminescence in novel heavily doped Ytterbium-Holmium silica fiber under low-power IR diode pumping

TL;DR: In this article, a silica fiber with ytterbium (Yb3+) and holmium (Ho3+) for the use as a potentially lasing and amplifying fiber-optic material is reported, and luminescent properties of the fiber are studied in the visible and near-IR spectral ranges under the low power IR diode pumping.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diode-pumped self-Q-switched erbium-doped all-fibre laser

TL;DR: In this paper, a diode-pumped self-Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser was developed and studied, and the most probable mechanism of passive Q-switching of the laser cavity is absorption from the excited state of the ionized material, resulting in a thermally induced nonlinear change in the refractive index in the fiber.
Journal ArticleDOI

The luminescent properties of Er3+–Yb3+-doped fluorophosphate fiber glass preforms at high temperatures

TL;DR: In this paper, the optical properties of fluorophosphate Er3+−Yb3+ fiber preforms with different concentrations of ErF3 and YbF3 were investigated in the temperature interval 25-300°C.
