IPv6 was designed to solve the issue of adopting IPv4 addresses by presenting a large number of address spaces. Currently, many networking devices consider IPv6 as a supportive IPv6-enabled device that includes routers, notebooks, personal computers, and mobile phones. Security has increasingly become a significant issue in exploiting networks and obtaining the benefits of IPv6. One of the important protocols in IPv6 implementation that is used for neighbor and router discovery is ICMPv6. However, this protocol can be used by attackers to deny network services through ICMPv6 DDoS flooding attacks that decrease the network performance. To solve this problem, this study proposes an intelligent ICMPv6 DDoS flooding-attack detection framework using back-propagation neural network (v6IIDS) in IPv6 networks. This study also explores and analyzes the detection accuracy of the proposed v6IIDS framework. An Intelligent ICMPv6 DDoS Flooding-Attack Detection Framework (v6IIDS) using Back-Propagation Neural Network

This paper proposed ICMPv6 Flood Attack Detection using DENFIS algorithms to detect denial of service (DoS) attacks in IPv6 networks. We developed C# application to send the ICMPv6 flood attack packets the flooding packets were generated using different attack rates starting from 1000 Pings to 1500 Pings, and the normal traffic packets were generated using different ping rates starting from 10 Pings to 15 Pings, for each ICMPv6 Packet, RTT was calculated. The dataset consists of 2000 recorded, which divided into two sets: 80% for training and 20% for testing, the proposed proved that we can detect ICMPv6 Flood Attack with low root mean square error which about 0.26.

ICMPv6 Flood Attack Detection using DENFIS Algorithms

Steganography is one of the methods of secret communication that hides the existence of message so that a viewer cannot detect the transmission of message and hence cannot try to decrypt it. It is the process of embedding secret data in the cover image without significant changes to the cover image. A cryptography algorithm is used to convert the secret messages to an unreadable form before embedding. These algorithms keep the messages from stealing, destroying from unintended users on the internet and hence provide security. Cryptography was introduced for making data secure. But alone cryptography cannot provide a better security approach because the scrambled message is still available to the eavesdropper. There arises a need of data hiding. So the propose technique use a combination of steganography and cryptography for improving the security. The proposed technique use Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Blowfish algorithm. The proposed method calculates LSB of each DC coefficient and replace with each bit of secret message. The proposed embedding method using DCT with LSB obtained better PSNR values. Blowfish algorithm is used for encryption and decryption of text message using a secret-key block cipher. This technique makes sure that the message has been encrypted before hiding it into a cover image. Blowfish is an improvement over DES, 3DES, etc designed to increase security and to improve performance. KeywordsSteganography, Cryptography ,DCT, LSB, PSNR, MSE.

Image Steganography Using Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Blowfish Algorithm

Green Information technology system offers opportunity for IT based organizations to act proactively in terms of environmental preservation as well as to mitigate effects of global climate change and other environmental problems. Green Information technology system adoption and implementation is a plausible attempt for IT based organizations to resolve the current environmental issues and also enhance their economic performance and possible social benefits. Currently several models and frameworks have been developed to address sustainability in various research domain. However, there are few models that can support decision making of practitioners in adopting and implementing sustainable practices in IT based organization. Therefore there is need to develop a model to assist practitioners adopt and implement sustainable practices. The proposed model comprises of Green variables, Green process and a hybrid technique of software agents and case bases reasoning. Findings from this paper shows the model variables, process, techniques applied and derived prepositions. Ongoing work involves adopting a mixed research (case study and survey) to verify the model variables, process and validate the model prepositions.

A proposed model for green practice adoption and implementation in information technology based organizations

The growth rate of the internet exceeds than any other technology which is measured by users and bandwidth. Internet has been growing at a rapid rate since its conception, on a curve geometric and sometimes exponential. Today, the Internet is moving exponentially in three different directions such as size, processing power, and software sophistication making it the fastest growing technology humankind has ever created. With the rapid growth of internet, there is need to protect the sensitive data from unauthorized access. Cryptography plays a vital role in the field of network security. Currently many encryption algorithms are available to secure the data but these algorithms consume lot of computing resources such as battery and CPU time. This paper mainly focuses on two commonly used symmetric encryption algorithms such as Blowfish and Rejindael. These algorithms are compared and performance is evaluated. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the performance of these algorithms.

However till now there no is clear idea about how to achieve the Green and Sustainability in SDLC phases (Software Development Life Cycle) .To fill this gap this work proposes a new software model called as SDLC Energy Star Model in each phases of the life cycle of Software Engineering In this paper it is proposed to implement the star values and tried to achieve the Green and Sustainability in SDLC.

Internet Control Message Protocol is a protocol which is mainly used to provide information relating to errors on networked machines. Considering the few controls that IP protocol carries out, it not only allows errors to be corrected but also informs the protocols of neighboring layers of these errors. So, ICMP protocol is used by all routers, who use it to indicate an error (called a Delivery Problem). ICMP error messages are sent over the network in a datagram form, like any other data. So, the error messages themselves can be subject to errors. ICMP messages are used by the network administrators for troubleshooting the networks. Even though this protocol has many advantages, there are some of the flaws such as security, which is a major concern to be considered and to be eliminated. In this paper, we present an existing scenario and provide the authentication mechanism for ICMP messages. We also propose enhanced Packet format for ICMP message in such a way that authentication can be done. Kerberos algorithm is used for authentication mechanism which uses private key encryption method.

A new way towards security in TCP/IP protocol suite

Owing to the latest advancements in networking devices and functionalities, there is a need to build future intelligent networks that provide intellectualization, activation, and customization. Software-defined networks (SDN) are one of the latest and most trusted technologies that provide a method of network management that provides network virtualization. Although traditional networks still have a strong presence in the industry, software-defined networks have begun to replace them at faster rates. When network technologies emerge at a steady rate, SDN will be implemented at higher rates in the upcoming years in all fields. Although SDN technology removes the complexity of tying control and data plane together over traditional networks, certain aspects such as security, controllability, and economy of network resources are vulnerable. Among these aspects, security is one of the main concerns that are to be viewed seriously as far as the applications of SDN are concerned. This paper presents the most recent security issues SDN environment followed by preventive mechanisms. This study focuses on Internet control message protocol (ICMP) attacks in SDN networks. This study proposes a security policy protocol (SPP) to detect attacks that target devices such as switches and the SDN controller in the SDN networks. The mechanism is based on ICMP attacks, which are the main source of flooding attacks in the SDN networks. The proposed model focuses on two aspects: security policy process verification and client authentication verification. Experimental results shows that the proposed model can effectively defend against flooding attacks in SDN network environments.

A Security Policy Protocol for Detection and Prevention of Internet Control Message Protocol Attacks in Software Defined Networks

Objectives: Exploratory data study is regularly indispensable to evaluate a potential premise for the subsequent studies such as grouping the data in clusters or diversifying the data in classification. Very common incident in the real data is incompleteness. Methods/Statistical Analysis: This problem can result in the biased treatment comparisons and also impacts the overall statistical power of the study. Missing data are proposed in several methods. The central idea of this proposed method is to handle the uncertainty of the missing values due to the vagueness arises in the real world datasets. This research work overcomes the inconsistency of the missing datasets and the proposed method tolerates the missing values using the fuzzy based K-NN. Three different well known dataset are used in this paper. Findings: The results demonstrate that the proposed method is capable of imputing the missing values even with high presence of missing values and overwhelmed the problem of uncertainty precisely. Application/Improvements: As compared to other techniques the proposed fuzzy based K-NN gives high inconsistency. In future it can be improved in concentrating with big dataset and more effectively and efficiently result could be substituted by applying the expected value.
