Journal ArticleDOI

Non-conventional yeasts as hosts for heterologous protein production.

TL;DR: The current status of Kluyveromyces lactis, Yarrowia lipolytica, Hansenula polymorpha and Pichia pastoris (the best-known alternative yeast systems) is reviewed and the advantages and limitations of these systems are discussed in relation to S. cerevisiae.
Journal ArticleDOI

Control of filament formation in Candida albicans by polyamine levels

TL;DR: The results suggest a model in which polyamine levels exert a pleiotrophic effect on transcriptional activity, and Candida odc/odc mutant was virulent in a mouse model.
Journal ArticleDOI

The ornithine decarboxylase gene from Candida albicans. Sequence analysis and expression during dimorphism

TL;DR: The gene (CaODC) coding for ornithine decarboxylase, a key enzyme in polyamine biosynthesis, was cloned from Candida albicans by PCR and characterized, suggesting that ODC activity levels may be regulated post-transcriptionally during differentiation.
