π -Bonded N 2 on Fe(111): The Precursor for Dissociation
Michael Grunze,M. Golze,W. Hirschwald,Hans-Joachim Freund,H. Pulm,U. Seip,M.-C. Tsai,Gerhard Ertl,J. Küppers +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, photoelectron spectroscopy and high-resolution electron energy loss spectrograms were used to identify a surface complex in which both nitrogen atoms interact with the metal and formed the immediate precursor to dissociation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction of Co with an Fe(111) surface
TL;DR: In this paper, the appearance of three different non-dissociated species is distinguished by their CO stretch frequencies of about 1530 cm -1 (a), 1800 cm −1 (b), and 2000 cm − 1 (c).
Journal ArticleDOI
A vibrational spectroscopy study on the interaction of N2 with clean and K-promoted Fe(111) surfaces: π-bonded dinitrogen as precursor for dissociation
TL;DR: In this article, the interaction of N 2 with an Fe(111) surface was investigated by high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy, and the molecular α 1 -N 2 state on the clean surface is identified as the immediate precursor for dissociation, and is characterized by a much reduced N-N stretch frequency of 1490 cm − (15 N 2 ) which resembles those with an N-n bond order of ~ 2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interaction of acetylene and ethylene with an Fe(111) surface
TL;DR: In this article, the chemisorption of C 2 H 2 and C 2H 4 on a clean or partly C- or O-covered Fe(111) surface was investigated with AES, TDS and HREELS.
