N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylideneiminato) transition metal ion chelates

The organic compounds of cobalt(III)

The preparation, structure, and catalytic properties of porous zirconium phosphate/phosphonate compounds are discussed. The crystal structure for the Zr2(PO4)(O3PCH2CH2(viologen)CH2CH2PO3)X3·3H2O, X = halide, is presented. The structure was determined ab initio from X-ray powder diffraction data and refined by Rietveld methods. The compound crystallizes with the symmetry of space group P2/c with a = 13.589(2) A, b = 8.8351(9) A, c = 9.229(1) A, and β = 100.79°. The structure consists of inorganic lamellae bridged by phosphono−ethyl−viologen groups. Large pores are formed in this material, which contain one halide ion and three water molecules per formula unit. The free halide ions in these materials are readily exchanged for PtCl42- ions. The Pt salt was reduced to give fine metal particles inside the porous solid. These materials produce hydrogen photochemically from water using ultraviolet light. Chirality and Diastereoselection of Δ/Λ-Configured Tetrahedral Zinc Complexes through Enantiopure Schiff Base Complexes: Combined Vibrational Circular Dichroism, Density Functional Theory, 1H NMR, and X-ray Structural Studies

The construction of novel (macrocyclic) multinuclear Co(III)salen catalysts is reported. Olefin metathesis has been used as a key construction tool for the multimetallic structures starting from versatile allyl-substituted salen scaffolds. The Co(III) complexes were tested in the hydrolytic kinetic resolution of (rac)-1,2-epoxyhexane and epoxide ring opening reactions using methanol as the nucleophile. The preliminary results suggest a cooperative mode of catalysis in the case of bis-Co(III)salen macrocycle 10.

Olefin metathesis as a tool for multinuclear Co(III)salen catalyst construction: access to cooperative catalysts.

The crystal and molecular structure of the Co(salen) complexes with acetonitrile, pyridine, acetone, and methoxyl as further ligands [cyanomethyleneCo-(salen) with methanol, methoxy-Co(salen) with pyridine and methanol, acetonylCo(salen) with methanol] have been determined by X-ray structural analysis.
