Journal ArticleDOI

Time-dependent propagation of high-energy laser beams through the atmosphere: II

TL;DR: In this article, a time-dependent three-space-dimensional laser beam propagation is described, where the authors use a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) method for diffraction problems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Propagation of highly aberrated laser beams in nonquadratic plasma waveguides

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the propagation of a laser beam in a plasma column several meters long with a realistic electron density distribution and showed that the aberrated nature of the resulting lenslike medium leads to essentially aperiodic beam properties, which contrast with the completely periodic properties of Gaussian beams propagating in quadratic lenslike media.
Journal ArticleDOI

K6 Laser beam trapping and propagation in cylindrical plasma columns

TL;DR: In this paper, a self-consistent time dependent treatment of the beam propagation and the medium hydrodynamics is used to predict the behavior of the laser beam, and it is shown that the beam can form a stable filament which alternately focuses and defocuses.
