Organochlorine insecticides and PCBs in sediments of Lake St. Clair (1970 and 1974) and Lake Erie (1971)

TL;DR: A core sample from the Western Basin of Lake Erie indicated that ΣDDT, HEOD and PCB began to accumulate in sediments in 1958, 1953, and 1956, which appeared to indicate a lag period of 2–5 years after wide-spread use occurred.
Journal ArticleDOI

Organochlorine Insecticides and PCB in Surficial Sediments (1968) and Sediment Cores (1976) from Lake Ontario

TL;DR: The results showed that PCB was present at the highest concentration, with mean levels of 57 ppb for the whole lake and DDT was the second most frequently found contaminant as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Organochlorine poisoning of ring-billed gulls in southern Ontario.

TL;DR: The brains of gulls dying with clinical signs of neurologic involvement, and dead gulls with no other apparent cause of death, contained organochlorine residues of significantly greater levels than those found in healthy gulls shot for comparison.
Journal Article

Residues of organochlorine insecticides and polychlorinated biphenyls in fish from Lakes Saint Clair and Erie, Canada--1968-76.

TL;DR: Data from the 1971 National Soils Monitoring Program are summarized.
