A new model for distribution system planning

TL;DR: In this article, a new and efficient simulation model for optimal expansion planning of distribution systems using separable linear programming (LP) technique is presented, which can be used to determine optimum substation sites and transformer sizes, optimum expansion of existing substation, optimal load transfer between substations and load centers, optimal routes and optimum feeder size at each selected route.
Journal ArticleDOI

A linear programming method for series and shunt compensation of HV transmission lines

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a method to calculate the degree of series capacitor and shunt reactor compensation in order to increase the power transfer capability of overhead transmission lines, which is based on linear programming which takes into consideration line modelling, series-and shunt compensation, voltage and reactive power constraints, and power factor before and after compensation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of load characteristics on maximum power transfer limit for HV compensated transmission lines

TL;DR: In this article, a new method for calculating the maximum power transfer limit of high voltage compensated transmission lines is made, where the effect of load characteristics as function of voltage and frequency is taken into account.
