Journal ArticleDOI

Obstructive sleep apnea treatment: peripheral and central effects on plasma renin activity and aldosterone.

TL;DR: It is suggested that CPAP treatment modifies the nocturnal patterns of PRA and aldosterone by increasing their mean levels and their oscillation amplitude, which indicates increased secretion, which contributes to the normalization of urine and Na output.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modulation of episodic renin release during sleep in humans.

TL;DR: A low sodium diet, which led to a slow increase in renal renin content, provoked large oscillations with high initial levels, however, in both cases the mean relative amplitude of the oscillations was similar to that of the control nights and approximated 60%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nocturnal oscillations of plasma aldosterone in relation to sleep stages

TL;DR: This study shows that the nocturnal secretion of aldosterone is under control of both the RAS and ACTH, and is dependent on the relationship of these hormonal systems to sleep stages.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of awakening on aldosterone.

TL;DR: Evidence of the dominant influence of ACTH during the second half of the night insuring the regulation of aldosterone during waking periods is provided.
