Properties of the interphase in organic matrix composites
TL;DR: In this article, the mechanical properties of the material surrounding a single carbon fiber in an epoxy matrix have been studied, showing that the material close to the fiber exhibited an apparent high modulus due to restriction by the fiber.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formation of the interphase in organic-matrix composites
TL;DR: In this article, the mechanical and chemical properties of material within a micrometre of the surface of a single carbon fiber in an epoxy/amine matrix were investigated. But the results showed that the material in this region is chemically different from material remote from the interface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elastic Modulus of the Interphase in Organic Matrix Composites
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of fiber treatment on the elastic properties of the interphase of an epoxy/amine matrix has been studied for a single fiber embedded in an Epoxy/Ammonia matrix with an average elastic modulus of about 1/4 of the normal matrix material.
