In all developing countries such as India the main problem of premature death is air pollution which also effect the economy of country. When urbanization started then various problem occurs such as environmental pollution, traffic system etc. there is so much loss of resources in crowded cities due to urbanization. The concept of smart sustainable city can be used to balance the resources. If we do loss of resources excessively than we will definitely create problems to our future generation and excessive use of resources causes air pollution. Than it is necessary to predict air pollution timely by which it can be monitored. Using Internet of Things monitoring of air pollution is necessary to save our environment from all harmful pollutants. Vehicles are the main cause of air pollution. Electric Vehicles and cycles can be used in place of other vehicles for controlling the air pollution. This research teaches that prediction of air pollution level is very important by which peoples can divert there route of travelling.

Prediction and Monitoring of Air Pollution Using Internet of Things (IoT)

Fog computing, an extension of the Cloud Computing paradigm where routers themselves may provide the virtualisation infrastructure, aims at achieving fluidity when distributing in-network functions, in addition to allowing fast and scalable processing, and exchange of information. In this paper we present a fog computing architecture based on a "content island" which interconnects sets of "things" to exchange and process data among themselves or with other content islands. We then present a use case that focuses on a smartphone-based forward collision warning application for a connected vehicle scenario. This application makes use of the optical sensor of smartphones to estimate the distance between the device itself and other vehicles in its field of view. The vehicle travelling directly ahead is identified relying on the information from the GPS, camera, and inter-island communication. Warnings are generated at both content islands, if the driver does not maintain a predefined safe distance towards the vehicle ahead. Experiments performed with the application show that with the developed method, we are able to estimate the distance between vehicles, and the inter-island communication has a very low overhead, resulting in improved performance. On comparing our proposed solution based on edge/fog computing with a cloud-based api, it was observed that our solution outperformed the cloud-based api, thus making us optimistic of the utility of the proposed architecture.

A Smart Industrial Pollution Detection and Monitoring Using Internet of Things (IoT)

The project uses a “smart unit” implanted in the car to record the vehicle's data and send them to the vehicle owner or a third party at regular intervals. The smart device is made up of a variety of sensors that are properly safeguarded in a black box that remains safe even if the car is entirely damaged. Appropriate algorithms are created based on the data to provide alerts and initiate action. The system will aid customers in a variety of ways, including providing quick assistance in the event of an accident, tracking the car in the event of theft, and remotely deactivating the vehicle. The device will assist the user in a variety of ways, including providing quick assistance in the event of an accident, tracking the car in the event of theft, and remotely deactivating the vehicle. Furthermore, the device will simultaneously sending the information to the insurance companies shortly after the event occurs, ensuring that the information is delivered to the insurance companies far ahead of time. The output of the proposed research work includes a smart device to monitor the vehicle, the prototype could be a viable technology for car manufacturers to integrate and improve vehicle safety features and increase the dependability of vehicle accident detection and reporting system.

IoT-based Vehicle Surveillance and Crash Detection System

The objective of this paper is to monitor and detect the harmful CO gas emitting from the vehicle and to intimate the vehicle owner and authorities regarding its emission level. Increasing number of automobiles and their pollution is a serious problem that has been around for a very long time. The quality of air in our environment is degrading due to a large amount of vehicles [e.g. two-wheelers, buses, cars]. Since the air pollution from vehicles increasing rapidly which causes diseases and trigger, asthma attacks, cancer. Therefore, monitoring and controlling of air quality is most important for healthy life and safe environment. So a system is to be designed such that it monitors and detects the vehicular pollution. An initial warning is given to the driver regarding the amount of CO gas with the help of LCD display, buzzer and later the same information is transferred to the Police Control Room in case of negligence. This is done with the help of Arduino Controller and the GSM module that is incorporated in the vehicle.

An IoT Based Vehicular Pollution Monitoring System for Automobile

The increase in population leads to increment in pollution and accident as well. Technological development makes great efforts to detect the accident and monitor the increasing pollution. This paper is based on enhancement in the smart vehicle system. Different units implemented in this paper which enhance the vehicular system. The main objective is to detect accidents in real time and minimize the response time of medical help. For accident avoidance, tire pressure is measured whereas in accident detection is implemented with the help of node MCU. MQ7 is used in order to monitor the pollution. The proposed system is useful in reducing the vehicular accidents and pollution monitoring will help to know the environmental status.
