Journal ArticleDOI

Oral erdosteine administration attenuates cisplatin-induced renal tubular damage in rats.

TL;DR: Treatment with free radical scavenger erdosteine attenuated increases in plasma creatinine and BUN, and tissue MDA and NO levels, and provided a histologically-proven protection against cisplatin-induced acute renal failure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ginkgo biloba inhibits bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis in rats.

TL;DR: The data suggest that Ginkgo biloba has a potent antioxidant activity in the model of bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis in rats, and therefore has a powerful antifibrotic activity against bleomyin-induced Lung fibrosis model in rats.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preventive effect of melatonin on bleomycin‐induced lung fibrosis in rats

TL;DR: It is revealed that melatonin may prevent the development of bleomycin‐induced lung fibrosis via the repression of protein and lipid peroxidation via the inhibition of catalase and glutathione peroxidase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of aminoguanidine and antioxidant erdosteine on bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis in rats.

TL;DR: Data presented here indicate that aminoguanidine and erdosteine prevented bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis and that nitric oxide mediated tyrosine nitration of proteins plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of bleomycil fibrosis, and suggest that antifibrotic affect of antioxidants may be due to their inhibitory effect on nitrous oxide generation in this model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Attenuation of bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis by oral sulfhydryl containing antioxidants in rats: erdosteine and N-acetylcysteine

TL;DR: Data presented here indicate that erdosteine and NAC similarly prevented bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis and their antioxidant effects were also similar in this experiment.
