Journal ArticleDOI

Photonic bandgap fiber-based Surface Plasmon Resonance sensors.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that by judicious design of the photonic crystal reflector, the effective refractive index of the core mode can be made considerably smaller than that of thecore material, thus enabling efficient phase matching with a plasmon, high sensitivity, and high coupling efficiency from an external Gaussian source, at any wavelength of choice from the visible to near-IR.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photonic Crystal Fiber and Waveguide-Based Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensors for Application in the Visible and Near-IR

TL;DR: In this article, a photonic crystal waveguide-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is proposed, where a plasman wave on the surface of a thin metal film is excited by a Gaussian-like leaky mode of an effectively single-mode photonic-crystal waveguide.
Journal ArticleDOI

LBLOCA in CANDU-NG cooled by light water

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed methodologies for the evaluation of LBLOCA in CANDU-NG reactors with the codes DONJON and DRAGON, and the evaluation showed that the methodology correctly detects positive reactivity introduced in the core by initial voiding in checkerboard pattern.
Journal ArticleDOI

Further improving LBLOCA resistance of CANDU cooled by light water

TL;DR: In this article, a small reactor remodeling is proposed to ensure no power pulse in LBLOCA in traditional core designs moderated and cooled by light, moderated by heavy water, such pulse is temporary, disappearing passively by itself and restricted to checkerboard voiding.
