El proposito de este estudio fue examinar la validez del modelo de liderazgo espiritual propuesto por Fry (2003). Se aplico el Cuestionario de Liderazgo Espiritual [SLT] (Fry & Matherly, 2006), a 279 trabajadores de Colombia y Ecuador. Ambas muestras fueron equivalentes respecto a sexo, edad, nivel de formacion y experiencia laboral. De acuerdo con los resultados, todas las dimensiones del instrumento, excepto la de compromiso, demostraron ser altamente consistentes (alpha superior a .85). Asimismo, se encontro que solo un item de los 35 que componen el instrumento presento baja correlacion itemescala. En la mayoria de los casos, las relaciones entre las variables y los indices de ajuste del modelo fueron menores a lo reportado por Fry, lo que limito la validez de constructo. Las evidencias externas de la validez del modelo demostraron que la experiencia laboral y el nivel del cargo son significativos para las dimensiones del liderazgo espiritual. Se discuten estos hallazgos respecto a los requerimientos psicometricos del instrumento y la relacion del constructo medido con aspectos del comportamiento organizacional. Finalmente, se senalan las limitaciones del estudio y se hacen recomendaciones para futuras investigaciones. Abstract The aim of this study was to examine the validity of the Spiritual Leadership model proposed by Fry (2003). Spiritual Leadership Questionnaire [SLT] (Fry & Matherly, 2006) was applied to 279 workers from Colombia and Ecuador. The two samples were equivalent by sex, age, education level and work experience. According to the results, all dimensions of the questionnaire showed to be highly consistent (alpha above .85) except Commitment dimension. Likewise, it found that just one of 35 items that composed the scale shows low item-scale correlation. In the most of the cases, the relationships between variables as well as the adjustment index of the model were lower than reported by Fry previously, which limited the construct validity. External evidences of validity of the model, demonstrated that the work experience and level of charge were significant for Spiritual Leadership dimensions. These findings were related to the psychometrics requirement of the scale and regarding of measured construct with organizational behavior. Finally, it is point out some research limitations and provide some suggestions for future studies.  Resumo O proposito deste estudo foi examinar a validade do modelo de lideranca espiritual (Spiritual Leadership Theory, SLT) proposto por Fry (2003). Aplicou-se o Questionario de Lideranca Espiritual (SLT Survey) (Fry & Matherly, 2006) a 279 trabalhadores da Colombia e do Equador. Ambas as amostras foram equivalentes com respeito a sexo, idade, nivel de formacao e experiencia profissional. De acordo com os resultados, todas as dimensoes do instrumento, exceto a de Compromisso, demonstraram ser altamente consistentes (alpha superior a .85). Tambem se constatou que apenas um item dos 35 que compoem o instrumento apresentou baixa correlacao item-escala. Na maioria dos casos, as relacoes entre as variaveis e os indices de ajuste do modelo foram menores que o indicado por Fry, o que limitou a validade de constructo. As evidencias externas da validade do modelo demonstraram que a experiencia profissional e o nivel do cargo sao significativos para as dimensoes da lideranca espiritual. Discutem-se essas descobertas com relacao aos requerimentos psicometricos do instrumento e a relacao do constructo medido com aspectos do comportamento organizacional. Finalmente, indicam-se as limitacoes do estudo e fazem-se recomendacoes para futuras pesquisas.

: Background: Innovation considered a key to improve an organization’s competitiveness. There are variety barriers impede innovation as external environment, also, enablers for innovation include easily access to finance and training. Purpose: Identify enablers and barriers facing nurse managers for implementing the innovative managerial skills at Menoufia University Hospitals. Design: Descriptive research design was utilized at this study. Setting: At different departments in Menoufia University hospital at Shebin El-Kom. Subjects: All available nurse managers (70) were included at this study. Instruments: Two instruments used for data collection: Instrument I; Self-administered knowledge questionnaire, and Instrument II; Barriers and enablers of innovative managerial skills questionnaire. Results: The most organizational enablers for innovative managerial skills among the nurse managers were having a champion management and having sufficient resources to support innovations, while the most individual enablers for innovative managerial skills among the nurse managers were access to funds of innovative ideas not requiring approval and overarching team to drive innovative process. Also, the most barriers for the nurse managers' innovative managerial skills were management tying up critical resource better allocated and decision making by consensus items. Conclusion: The level of barriers that face nurse managers' for implementing the innovative managerial skills was higher than enablers' level that support implementing the innovative managerial skills among nurse managers. Recommendation: Hospital administration should outline and discuss strong impact of barriers that hinder innovative managerial skills among nurse managers and determine strategies to control negative impact of these barriers.

Enablers and Barriers Facing Nurse Managers for Implementing the Innovative Managerial Skills at Menoufia University Hospitals

Abstract Background Spiritual leadership is the most positive leadership style accepted by positive organizational behavior scholars that contributes to psychological capital. Spiritual leadership could be a critical organizational resource for followers. The study aims to examine the levels of spiritual leadership and psychological capital among nursing educators and determine the relationship between spiritual leadership and psychological capital among nurse educators. Methods A cross-sectional design was applied using two tools: spiritual leadership and psychological capital scales. Over 3 months, data were collected from 213 nursing educators. Results The spiritual leadership level is moderate to high (49.8 and 38.5%). The psychological capital level is high (63.4%). The association between spiritual leadership and psychological capital is a strong, positive, and highly significant correlation (R-value = 0.63, P = 0.001). The regression analysis predicted that male participants were expected to have more spiritual leadership and psychological capital than females. Conclusion It can be concluded and validated how important it is to develop and practice spiritual leadership to foster followers’ psychological capital. Implications of nursing management as nursing leaders must have spiritual competencies to promote workplace spirituality on the daily agenda as a foundational area in management.

Spiritual leadership among nursing educators: a correlational cross-sectional study with psychological capital

Spiritual leadership is one of the leadership styles that are currently popular in management studies. It has vision, hope, faith, and altruistic love to create a positive environment in an organization. Goals. Provide information through bibliometric analysis of publishing patterns, literature developments, and information analysis of spiritual leadership research publications. This study included quantitative descriptive approaches and bibliometric analyses to map bibliographic data from various journal articles from the Scopus database using VOS viewer. This study retrieves data on December 15, 2021, using the keywords "Spiritual and Leadership" or "Islamic and Leadership". United States, United Kingdom, and Indonesia contributed the most to the study. Frontiers in Psychology journal has published the most papers on spiritual leadership. The topic areas with the most documents are social science, medicine, arts, and humanities, as well as business, management, and accounting. Vosviewer categorizes data into four clusters. Cluster 1 includes themes such as health, care, quality, and evidence. Cluster 2 covers spiritual leadership, relationships, Indonesia, influence, the environment, employee commitment, and organizational commitment. Cluster 3 includes the issues of assistance, reaction, spiritual leadership, and contribution. The last, cluster 4 covers religion, Islam, power, and important role.

Spiritual Leadership in Healthcare: A Bibliometric Analysis

Background , Spiritual leadership one of the most effective leadership styles to overcome work challenges and enhancing nurses' motivation. Aim of study: Was to assess spiritual leadership educational program for head nurses and its effect on staff nurses' motivation. Research Design: A quasi-experimental design was used to achieve the aim of the present study. Setting: The study was conducted at Benha Teaching Hospital in all departments and units. Sample: A convenient sample of 70 head nurses, and 200 staff nurses. Tools of data collection: Four different tools were used in the present study for data collection, personal data questionnaires, spiritual leadership knowledge questionnaires, spiritual leadership skills questionnaires and nurses' motivation level questionnaires. Results: Minority 5% of head nurses had good knowledge level at the preprogram phase while it increased to 85.5% & 84.8% at post program and follow up study phases, while only 16.3% of head nurses had high spiritual leadership skills level at preprogram phase it was increased to almost of them 91.4% & 91.0% at post program and follow phases respectively. Also while 10.0% of staff nurses had a high motivational level at preprogram phase it was increased to almost of them 86.5%: 85.5% at the post program phase and follow phase respectively. Conclusion: There was a highly positive statistical significant correlation between head nurses' spiritual leadership knowledge, skills and staff nurses' motivation at post and follow up program phases. Recommendation: In-service training and education programs must be conducted for refreshing and increasing knowledge and skills about spiritual leadership as well as to emphasize spiritual leadership skills of head nurses.

Spiritual Leadership Educational Program for Head Nurses and its Effect on Nurses' Motivation

Background: Spiritual leadership can guide leaders to help followers to be able to meet higher order needs. Purpose: Is to explore the relationship between spiritual leadership and organizational trust among nurses. Design: A descriptive correlational design was used in this study. Setting: the study was conducted at Menoufia university hospitals all 11 ICU units, all 6 operation room, all 21deparetments and 15 out patients clinics. Subjects: included all nursing managers were available 85 at the time of the study, 400 staff nurses were selected by simple random sample to participate in the study. Data collection Instruments: spiritual leadership and organizational trust questionnaire. Results: the highest percentage of nursing managers' perception was observed between moderate and high level of spiritual leadership. The highest percent of staff nurses had low levels of organizational trust dimensions while the lowest percent of staff nurses had high levels of organizational trust dimensions. Conclusion: there was positive statistically significant correlation between nursing managers’ altruistic love levels and staff nurses’ organization's trust dimension. Also there was positive statistically significant correlation between nursing managers’ membership levels and staff nurses’ nursing managers’ trust dimension and staff nurses’ organizational trust dimension and the medium score of staff nurses’ organizational trust levels increased with increase of nursing managers’ levels of spiritual leadership medium score. Recommendations: the nursing managers should use the application of innovative styles such as spiritual leadership to improving the organizational trust among staff nurses
