Journal ArticleDOI
Radio frequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) from GSM (0.9/1.8GHz) mobile phones induces oxidative stress and reduces sperm motility in rats
TL;DR: It is speculated that RF-EMR from mobile phones negatively affects semen quality and may impair male fertility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase and 3-hydroxykynurenine modifications are found in the neuropathology of Alzheimer's disease
David J. Bonda,Maneesh Mailankot,Jeremy G. Stone,Matthew R. Garrett,Matthew R. Garrett,Magdalena Maria Staniszewska,Magdalena Maria Staniszewska,Rudy J. Castellani,Sandra L. Siedlak,Xiongwei Zhu,Hyoung Gon Lee,George Perry,Ram H. Nagaraj,Mark A. Smith +13 more
TL;DR: This study provides further evidence that the kynurenine pathway is involved with the destructive neurodegenerative pathway of Alzheimer's disease and shows that IDO-1 was shown to be specifically localized in conjunction with neurofibrillary tangles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial Memory Perfomance of Wistar Rats Exposed to Mobile Phone
Sareesh Naduvil Narayanan,Raju Suresh Kumar,Bhagath Kumar Potu,Satheesha B Nayak,Maneesh Mailankot +4 more
TL;DR: Mobile phone exposure affected the acquisition of learned responses in Wistar rats and points to the poor spatial navigation and the object place configurations of the phone-exposed animals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of radio-frequency electromagnetic radiations (RF-EMR) on passive avoidance behaviour and hippocampal morphology in Wistar rats
Sareesh Naduvil Narayanan,Raju Suresh Kumar,Bhagath Kumar Potu,Satheesha B Nayak,Gopalakrishna Bhat,Maneesh Mailankot +5 more
TL;DR: Mobile phone RF-EMR exposure significantly altered the passive avoidance behaviour and hippocampal morphology in rats and marked morphological changes were observed in the CA3 region of the hippocampus of the mobile phone-exposed rats in comparison to the control rats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induction of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase by interferon-gamma in human lens epithelial cells: Apoptosis through the formation of 3-hydroxykynurenine
Maneesh Mailankot,Ram H. Nagaraj +1 more
TL;DR: The results show that the induction of IDO by IFN-gamma is JAK-STAT1 pathway-dependent and that this induction causes 3OHKyn-mediated apoptosis in HLE-B3 cells, suggesting that IDO-mediated kynurenine formation could play a role in cataract formation related to chronic inflammation.
