Journal ArticleDOI

Ecological connectivity analysis to reduce the barrier effect of roads. An innovative graph-theory approach to define wildlife corridors with multiple paths and without bottlenecks

TL;DR: This analysis focused on roe deer, one of the large mammals most commonly hit by vehicles on the Spanish road network, and develops a network approach, implementing an iterative GIS methodology to obtain alternative corridors with comparable costs and without bottlenecks below a user-defined minimum width.
Journal ArticleDOI

Road-corridor planning in the EIA procedure in Spain. A review of case studies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the quality of the methods applied and the homogeneity and suitability of the variables used for defining the TCC in 22 road-construction projects conducted by the Ministry of Public Works that were subject to the Spanish EIA regulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing landscape resistance to roe deer dispersal using fuzzy set theory and multicriteria analysis: a case study in Central Spain

TL;DR: In this article, a map of resistance to roe deer dispersal movements was obtained based on the literature and expert judgment, and three factors were selected: land use (defined by the ability to hide movements, food source, and degree of naturalness), landforms, and influence due to proximity to elements that increase (such as roads and urban areas) or decrease (water resources and proximity to optimal habitat patches) resistance at the local level.
Journal ArticleDOI

Social and Distributional Effects of Public Transport Fares and Subsidy Policies: Case of Madrid, Spain:

TL;DR: In this paper, two main indicators were developed to measure the social impact of the travel pass, a highly subsidized fare, to determine the effectiveness of the policy in reaching lower-income citizens.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of optimal landforms to reduce impacts on the landscape using LiDAR for hosting a new highway

TL;DR: In this paper, LIDAR and 3D realistic views were considered to locate observer's views and Bands of less cumulative impact were obtained as guides for highway tracing, and preventive and corrective measures for impact mitigation were located.
