Journal ArticleDOI
Selenium for preventing cancer
Gabriele Dennert,Marcel Zwahlen,Maree Brinkman,Marco Vinceti,Maurice P. Zeegers,Markus Horneber +5 more
TL;DR: Findings have limitations due to study design, quality and heterogeneity that complicate interpretation of the summary statistics, and some studies suggested that genetic factors may modify the relation between selenium and cancer risk-a hypothesis that deserves further investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Green tea (Camellia sinensis) for the prevention of cancer
Tommaso Filippini,Marcella Malavolti,Francesca Borrelli,Angelo A. Izzo,Susan J. Fairweather-Tait,Markus Horneber,Marco Vinceti,Marco Vinceti +7 more
TL;DR: There is insufficient and conflicting evidence to give any firm recommendations regarding green tea consumption for cancer prevention, and drinking green tea appears to be safe at moderate, regular and habitual use.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Impact of In Vivo Reflectance Confocal Microscopy on the Diagnostic Accuracy of Lentigo Maligna and Equivocal Pigmented and Nonpigmented Macules of the Face
Pascale Guitera,Giovanni Pellacani,Kerry A. Crotty,Richard A. Scolyer,Richard A. Scolyer,Ling Xi L Li,Sara Bassoli,Marco Vinceti,Harold S. Rabinovitz,Caterina Longo,Scott W. Menzies,Scott W. Menzies +11 more
TL;DR: An algorithm was developed (LM score) to distinguish LM from BM and was equally effective in the diagnosis of amelanotic lesions and showed good interobserver reproducibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary reference values for vitamin K.
Dominique Turck,Jean-Louis Bresson,Barbara Burlingame,Tara Dean,Susan J. Fairweather-Tait,Marina Heinonen,Karen Ildico Hirsch-Ernst,Inge Mangelsdorf,Harry J McArdle,Androniki Naska,Grażyna Nowicka,Kristina Pentieva,Yolanda Sanz,Alfonso Siani,Anders Sjödin,Martin Stern,Daniel Tomé,Henk Van Loveren,Marco Vinceti,Peter Willatts,Christel Lamberg-Allardt,Hildegard Przyrembel,Inge Tetens,Céline Dumas,Lucia Fabiani,Sofia Ioannidou,Monika Neuhäuser-Berthold +26 more
TL;DR: The EFSA Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies sets adequate intakes (AIs) for phylloquinone only, maintaining the reference value proposed by the Scientific Committee for Food (SCF) in 1993.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selenium for preventing cancer
Gabriele Dennert,Marcel Zwahlen,Maree Brinkman,Marco Vinceti,Maurice P. Zeegers,Markus Horneber +5 more
TL;DR: Despite evidence for an inverse association between selenium exposure and the risk of some types of cancer, these results should be interpreted with care due to the potential limiting factors of heterogeneity and influences of unknown biases, confounding and effect modification.
