Journal ArticleDOI

Essential oils from neotropical Myrtaceae: chemical diversity and biological properties.

TL;DR: Chemical and pharmacological studies carried out on neotropical Myrtaceae species are reviewed, based on original articles published since 1980 and the uses in folk medicine and chemotaxonomic importance of secondary metabolites are briefly discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of the antimicrobial activity of crude extracts and isolated constituents from Chresta scapigera

TL;DR: B-amyrin acetate, tiliroside and luteolin showed the strongest antimicrobial effect and Hexane extracts presented the best results while ethanol extracts did not indicate inhibition of the microbial growth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical composition of Rosmarinus officinalis essential oil and antioxidant action against gastric damage induced by absolute ethanol in the rat

TL;DR: The monoterpenes present in the essential oil obtained from Rosmarinus officinalis may be among the active principles responsible for the antioxidant activity shown by essential oil of R. officinalis in ethanol-induced gastric ulcer model in vivo.
