Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical properties of visible light-cured resins reinforced with hydroxyapatite for dental restoration.

TL;DR: An adequate surface modification of the hydroxyapatite particles conferred enhanced mechanical properties to the final dental composite, and microscopic-hydroxyap atite particles are preferred to nanoscopic ones.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polymethylmethacrylate-based bone cement modified with hydroxyapatite.

TL;DR: A commercial acrylic bone cement was modified by the incorporation of different weight fractions of polycrystalline hydroxyapatite (HA) to find that up to 15 wt% HA could be added for increases in flexural modulus and fracture toughness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrolytic stability of experimental hydroxyapatite-filled dental composite materials.

TL;DR: Dental composites containing only nanometric particles of hydroxyapatite as a filler are unsuitable for clinical performance and more research is needed to further improve the interaction of nano-HAP particles with the polymeric matrix.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sorption and diffusion of compressed carbon dioxide in polycaprolactone for the development of porous scaffolds

TL;DR: In this paper, the use of compressed carbon dioxide is discussed for obtaining porous scaffolds from polycaprolactone (PCL) in order to determine the plasticization effect of carbon dioxide on the degree of foaming it is necessary to discuss sorption data with respect to morphological features of the polymer at conditions nearby the melting point.
