In this paper we adopt the hyperboloid in Minkowski space as the model of hyperbolic space. We define the hyperbolic Gauss map and the hyperbolic Gauss indicatrix of a hypersurface in hyperbolic space. The hyperbolic Gauss map has been introduced by Ch. Epstein [J. Reine Angew. Math. 372 (1986) 96–135] in the Poincare ball model, which is very useful for the study of constant mean curvature surfaces. However, it is very hard to perform the calculation because it has an intrinsic form. Here, we give an extrinsic definition and we study the singularities. In the study of the singularities of the hyperbolic Gauss map (indicatrix), we find that the hyperbolic Gauss indicatrix is much easier to calculate. We introduce the notion of hyperbolic Gauss–Kronecker curvature whose zero sets correspond to the singular set of the hyperbolic Gauss map (indicatrix). We also develop a local differential geometry of hypersurfaces concerning their contact with hyperhorospheres.2000 Mathematical Subject Classification: 53A25, 53A05, 58C27.

Singularities of hyperbolic Gauss maps

Mixed functions are analytic functions in variables z1, ..., zn and their conjugates $\bar z_1$, ..., $\bar z_n$. We introduce the notion of Newton non-degeneracy for mixed functions and develop a basic tool for the study of mixed hypersurface singularities. We show the existence of a canonical resolution of the singularity, and the existence of the Milnor fibration under the strong non-degeneracy condition.

In this paper, we continue the study of the geometry of spacelike surfaces in de Sitter 5-space. We define invariants of the second fundamental form and consider their geometrical properties. We also investigate generic properties of the surfaces defined as solutions of the equations of asymptotic directions (AD) and lightlike binormal directions (BD) of spacelike surfaces.

Index of an implicit differential equation

We prove several results regarding the simplicity of germs and multigerms obtained via the operations of augmentation, simultaneous augmentation and concatenation and generalised concatenation. We also give some results in the case where one of the branches is a non stable primitive germ. Using our results we obtain a list which includes all simple multigerms from $\mathbb C^3$ to $\mathbb C^3$.

On the simplicity of multigerms

A more general class than complete intersection singularities is the class of determinantal singularities. They are defined by the vanishing of all the minors of a certain size of a $m\times n$-matrix. In this note, we consider $\mathcal{G}$-finite determinacy of matrices defining a special class of determinantal varieties. They are called essentially isolated determinantal singularities (EIDS) and were defined by Ebeling and Gusein-Zade. In this note, we prove that matrices parametrized by generic homogeneous forms of degree $d$ define EIDS. It follows that $\mathcal{G}$-finite determinacy of matrices hold in general. As a consequence, EIDS of a given type $(m,n,t)$ holds in general.

Determinacy of Determinantal Varieties

We extend the notion of $\mu^*$-sequence and Tjurina number of functions to the framework of Bruce-Roberts numbers, that is, to pairs formed by the germ at $0$ of a complex analytic variety $X\subseteq \mathbb C^n$ and a finitely $\mathcal R(X)$-determined analytic function germ $f:(\mathbb C^n,0)\to (\mathbb C,0)$. We analyze some fundamental properties of these numbers.
