Relationship Between Vitamin D Status and Skin Phototype in General Adult Population
Denis Malvy,Christiane Guinot,Paul Preziosi,Pilar Galan,Marie-Claire Chapuy,M. Maamer,S. Arnaud,Pierre J. Meunier,Serge Hercberg,Erwin Tschachler,Erwin Tschachler +10 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that lower vitamin D levels in fair-skinned individuals are due to their sun exposure behavior, and phototypes and global self-assessments of sun exposure were positively linked.
Journal ArticleDOI
Can we stop bone loss and prevent hip fractures in the elderly
TL;DR: It is shown in a 3-year controlled prospective study that the daily use of supplements given in a large population of elderly ambulatory women living in nursing homes reduced the number of hip fractures by 23% and can be recommended for people living in institutions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dose effects on ewe bone remodeling of short-term sodium fluoride administration — A histomorphometric and biochemical study
Pascale Chavassieux,P. Pastoureau,Georges Boivin,Marie-Claire Chapuy,Pierre D. Delmas,P. J. Meunier +5 more
TL;DR: Fluoride prolonged the lifespan of osteoblasts that had reduced activity and point out a stimulatory effect of fluoride on the birth rate of fractures and bone fluoride content significantly increased in group II.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum osteocalcin is increased in patients with osteomalacia: correlations with biochemical and histomorphometric findings.
TL;DR: It is concluded that in patients with osteomalacia, a condition which is characterized by an increased osteoid accumulation due to a decreased mineralization rate, the increased level of serum osteocalcin reflects the increased osteoids synthesis but not the mineralization defect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of bone and kidney in parathyroid hormone-related peptide-induced hypercalcemia in rats.
TL;DR: It is indicated that stimulation of renal tubular reabsorption of Ca is an important determinant of the increase in plasma Ca induced by the chronic infusion of PTHrP‐(1–34) in TPTX rats.
