Journal ArticleDOI

Serial-order learning impairment and hypersensitivity-to-interference in dyscalculia.

TL;DR: People with dyscalculia who show good conceptual knowledge in mathematics but impaired arithmetic fluency suffer from increased sensitivity-to-interference compared to controls and suffer from a serial-order learning deficit characterized by a slow learning and a quick degradation of the memory trace of the repeated sequence.
Journal ArticleDOI

One first? Acquisition of the cardinal and ordinal uses of numbers in preschoolers.

TL;DR: The data indicate that the acquisitions of cardinal and ordinal meanings of numbers are related, and cardinality precedes the development of ordinality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preorthographical constraints on visual word recognition: evidence from a case study of developmental surface dyslexia.

TL;DR: The results showed that M.T. did not use the whole visual information available on letter identities to recognize words and that preorthographical factors constrained his word recognition performance, which can be best accounted for by a reduction of the number of letters processed in parallel.
Journal ArticleDOI

Notational constraints and number processing : a reappraisal of the Gonzalez and Kolers (1982) study

TL;DR: In a verification task of simple additions composed of Arabic or Roman numerals, Gonzalez and Kolers (1982) reported data that were interpreted as supporting the idea that cognitive operations are not independent of the symbols that instigate them as mentioned in this paper.
