TL;DR: Late dislocation is more common than was previously thought and can occur in association with a long-standing problem with the prosthesis that manifests late, or with a new problem (such as neurologic decline, an episode of trauma, or polyethylene wear), or it can occur with any combination of these factors.

The effectiveness of polyethylene versus titanium particles in inducing osteolysis in vivo.

TL;DR: A calvarial model of wear particle‐induced osteolysis based on commercially available polyethylene particles is reported and it is found that compared to sham surgery osteoclast recruitment and bone resorption can be induced by introduction of the titanium particles or polyethylenes particles.

Patient survival after hip arthroplasty for metastatic disease of the hip.

TL;DR: Patients undergoing hip arthroplasty for metastatic disease have a limited life expectancy, with only 40% of the 299 patients in this series still alive at one year after the surgery, and prognostic factors regarding life expectancy are identified.
