Basics of qualitative research: Grounded theory procedures and techniques

According to W. Edwards Deming, American companies require nothing less than a transformation of management style and of governmental relations with industry. In Out of the Crisis, originally published in 1982, Deming offers a theory of management based on his famous 14 Points for Management. Management's failure to plan for the future, he claims, brings about loss of market, which brings about loss of jobs. Management must be judged not only by the quarterly dividend, but by innovative plans to stay in business, protect investment, ensure future dividends, and provide more jobs through improved product and service. In simple, direct language, he explains the principles of management transformation and how to apply them.

SUMMARY Information affects almost all aspects of life, and thus the Quality of Information (IQ) plays a critical role in businesses and societies; It can have significant positive and negative impacts on the quality of life of citizens, employees and organizations. Over many years aspects and challenges of IQ have been studied within various contexts. As a result, the general approach to the study of IQ has offered numerous management and measurement approaches, IQ frameworks and list of IQ criteria. As the volume of data and information increases, IQ problems become pervasive. Whereas earlier studies investigated specific aspects of IQ, the next phase of IQ research will need to examine IQ in a wider context, thus its impact on the quality of life and societies. In this paper we apply an IQ oriented framework to two cases, cloud computing and lifelogging, illustrating the impact of IQ on the quality of life. This paper covers a comparison between two distinct approaches to neural network modeling. The first one is based on a developing of a single neural network model to predict bad debt events. The second one is based on combined models, building firstly a clustering model to recognize the pattern assigned to the customers, with a particular focus on the insolvency, and then developing several distinct neural networks to predict bad debt. In the second approach, for each group identified by the clustering model one neural network had been constructed. In that way, we turned the quite heterogeneous customer base more homogeneous, increasing the average accuracy for the predictive modeling once several straightforward models were built.

Intelligent Provision of Tailored, Easily Understood, and Trusted Health Information for Patient Empowerment

Usage in the software field deals with knowledge about how end-users use the application and how the application responds to the users’ action. Understanding usage data can help developers optimise the application development process by prioritising the resources such as time, cost and man power on features of the application which are critical for the user. However, in a complex cloud computing environment, the process of extracting and analysing usage data is difficult since the usage data is spread across various front-end interfaces and back-end underlying infrastructural components of the cloud that host the application and are of different types and formats. In this paper, we propose usage analytics, a process to extract and analyse usage to understand the behavioural usage patterns of the user with the aim to identify features critical to user. We demonstrate how to identify the features in a cloud based application, how to extract and analyse the usage data to understand the user behaviour.
