Journal ArticleDOI
Laparoscopic extraperitoneal rectal cancer surgery: the clinical practice guidelines of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES)
R. Siegel,Miguel A. Cuesta,E. M. Targarona,F. G. Bader,Mario Morino,Ricard Corcelles,Antonio M. Lacy,Lars Påhlman,Eva Haglind,Krzysztof Bujko,H. P. Bruch,Markus M. Heiss,Matthias Eikermann,Edmund Neugebauer +13 more
TL;DR: Laparoscopic surgery for mid- and low-rectal cancer can be recommended under optimal conditions, but most level 1 evidence is for colon cancer surgery rather than rectal cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of hospital volume on local recurrence and survival in a population sample of rectal cancer patients.
Jutta Engel,Jacqueline Kerr,Renate Eckel,Bernulf Günther,Markus M. Heiss,Wolf Heitland,J. R. Siewert,Karl W. Jauch,Dieter Hölzel +8 more
TL;DR: It is found that hospital volume did not determine survival or local recurrence of rectal cancer patients, and UICC stage, tumour localisation, and neoadjuvant therapy treatment were significant variables.
Journal ArticleDOI
Autologous blood and infections after colorectal surgery
OlivierR.C. Busch,WimC.J. Hop,RichardL. Marquet,Johannes Jeekel,J. G. A. Houbiers,L. M. G. van de Watering,C.J.H. van de Velde,Anneke Brand,Friedrich W. Schildberg,K. W. Jauch,Markus M. Heiss +10 more
Journal ArticleDOI
The prevention and treatment of vascular graft infection with a Triclosan (Irgasan)-bonded Dacron graft: an experimental study in the pig.
T. Hernandez-Richter,H. M. Schardey,F. Löhlein,Markus M. Heiss,M Redondo-Müller,C Hammer,F. W. Schildberg +6 more
TL;DR: Triclosan bonding appears effective in preventing prosthetic graft infection in this animal model, however, the in situ replacement of Triclosan-protected grafts was not successful in the treatment of graft infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term results of transvaginal/transumbilical versus classical laparoscopic cholecystectomy—an analysis of 88 patients
TL;DR: This long-time prospective data acquisition from 88 or, for some data, 61 patients accounts for the safety of TVC, particularly with regard to sexual function and found less postoperative impairment, quicker recovery and improved satisfaction for TVC as compared to LC.
