Utilization of the PICO framework to improve searching PubMed for clinical questions
TL;DR: There was a trend towards higher precision that needs to be investigated in a larger study to determine if PICO can improve the relevancy of search results, and this pilot study could not demonstrate a statistically significant difference between the search protocols.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two self-management interventions to improve hypertension control: a randomized trial.
Hayden B. Bosworth,Maren K. Olsen,Janet M. Grubber,Alice M. Neary,Melinda Orr,Benjamin J. Powers,Martha B. Adams,Laura P. Svetkey,Shelby D. Reed,Yanhong Li,Rowena J. Dolor,Eugene Z. Oddone +11 more
TL;DR: More than 40% of Americans with hypertension have adequate blood pressure control as mentioned in this paper. But, less than half of those with hypertension are diagnosed with hypertension, and less than 20% have adequate BP control.
Journal ArticleDOI
Take Control of Your Blood Pressure (TCYB) study: a multifactorial tailored behavioral and educational intervention for achieving blood pressure control.
Hayden B. Bosworth,Maren K. Olsen,Maren K. Olsen,Alice M. Neary,Melinda Orr,Janet M. Grubber,Janet M. Grubber,Laura P. Svetkey,Martha B. Adams,Eugene Z. Oddone,Eugene Z. Oddone +10 more
TL;DR: Evaluating a randomized controlled trial involving a tailored behavioral intervention conducted to improve blood pressure control and finding the intervention is easily implemented and is designed to enhance adherence with prescribed hypertension regimen is important.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized Trial of Telegenetics vs. In-Person Cancer Genetic Counseling: Cost, Patient Satisfaction and Attendance
Adam H. Buchanan,Santanu K. Datta,Santanu K. Datta,Celette Sugg Skinner,Gail P. Hollowell,Henry F. Beresford,Thomas Freeland,Benjamin Rogers,John C. Boling,P. Kelly Marcom,P. Kelly Marcom,Martha B. Adams +11 more
TL;DR: It was found that telegenetics cost less than in-person counseling, with high satisfaction among those who attended, and this study provides support for future randomized trials comparing multiple service delivery models on longer-term psychosocial and behavioral outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Take Control of Your Blood pressure (TCYB) study: study design and methodology.
Hayden B. Bosworth,Hayden B. Bosworth,Maren K. Olsen,Maren K. Olsen,Tara K. Dudley,Melinda Orr,Alice M. Neary,Mikeal Harrelson,Martha B. Adams,Laura P. Svetkey,Rowena J. Dolor,Rowena J. Dolor,Eugene Z. Oddone,Eugene Z. Oddone +13 more
TL;DR: This study is the first to combine both a tailored behavioral self-management intervention and self-monitoring home blood pressure intervention to improve blood pressure control among patients in a primary care setting.
