Journal ArticleDOI
DACH-LIGA homocystein (german, austrian and swiss homocysteine society): consensus paper on the rational clinical use of homocysteine, folic acid and B-vitamins in cardiovascular and thrombotic diseases: guidelines and recommendations.
Olaf Stanger,Wolfgang Herrmann,Klaus Pietrzik,Brian Fowler,Jürgen Geisel,Jutta Dierkes,Martin Weger +6 more
TL;DR: There is an increasing call for the diagnosis and treatment of elevated homocysteine levels in high-risk individuals in general and patients with manifest vascular disease in particular and intervention, if any, should be guided by the severity of hyperhomocysteinemia.
Journal Article
Multiplex bead analysis of vitreous and serum concentrations of inflammatory and proangiogenic factors in diabetic patients.
Richard Maier,Martin Weger,Eva-Maria Haller-Schober,Yosuf El-Shabrawi,Andreas Wedrich,Anna Theisl,Reingard Aigner,Alfred Barth,Anton Haas +8 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that in diabetics, there is an upregulation of IP-10, MCP-1, and VEGF in the vitreous and an up regulation of MIP-1β, RANTES, andVEGFIn the serum, which support the concept of an angiogenic and inflammatory element in the development of diabetic retinopathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mitochondrial DNA haplogroup T is associated with coronary artery disease and diabetic retinopathy: a case control study
Barbara Kofler,Edith E. Mueller,Waltraud Eder,Olaf Stanger,Richard Maier,Martin Weger,Anton Haas,Robert Winker,Otto Schmut,Bernhard Paulweber,Bernhard Iglseder,Wilfried Renner,Martina Wiesbauer,Irene Aigner,Danijela Santic,Franz A. Zimmermann,Johannes A. Mayr,Wolfgang Sperl +17 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that the mtDNA haplogroup T is associated with CAD and diabetic retinopathy in Middle European Caucasian populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of radiation retinopathy after high-dosage single-fraction gamma knife radiosurgery for choroidal melanoma.
Anton Haas,Oliver Pinter,G. Papaefthymiou,Martin Weger,Andrea Berghold,O. Schröttner,K. Müllner,Gerhard Pendl,Gerald Langmann +8 more
TL;DR: In this study there was no correlation between radiation dosage applied and clinical findings and single-fraction high-dose Leksell gamma knife radiosurgery of choroidal melanomas with a median marginal dose of 50 Gy is highly associated with early radiation retinopathy and with neovascular glaucoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of complement factor H Y402H gene polymorphism with different subtypes of exudative age-related macular degeneration.
B.J. Wegscheider,Martin Weger,Wilfried Renner,Iris Steinbrugger,Winfried März,Georg Mossböck,Werner Temmel,Yosuf El-Shabrawi,Otto Schmut,Renate Jahrbacher,Anton Haas +10 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the CFH Y402H polymorphism is a major risk factor for exudative AMD in a Central European population of Caucasoid descent.
