Watkinson,Carol Coupland,Carol Coupland,James Doidge,David A Harrison,Rommel Ravanan,Aziz Sheikh,Aziz Sheikh,Chris Robertson,Julia Hippisley-Cox +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, a self-controlled case series study was conducted to investigate hospital admissions from neurological complications in the 28 days after a first dose of ChAdOx1nCoV-19 (n = 20,417,752) or BNT162b2 (n= 12,134,782), and after a SARS-coV-2-positive test.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of thrombocytopenia and thromboembolism after covid-19 vaccination and SARS-CoV-2 positive testing: self-controlled case series study.
Julia Hippisley-Cox,Martina Patone,Xue W Mei,Defne Saatci,Sharon Dixon,Kamlesh Khunti,Francesco Zaccardi,Peter J. Watkinson,Manu Shankar-Hari,James C Doidge,David A Harrison,Simon J. Griffin,Aziz Sheikh,Carol Coupland,Carol Coupland +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assess the association between covid-19 vaccines and risk of thrombocytopenia and thromboembolic events in England among adults.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mortality and critical care unit admission associated with the SARS-CoV-2 lineage B.1.1.7 in England: an observational cohort study.
Martina Patone,Karen Thomas,Robert Hatch,Pui San Tan,Carol Coupland,Weiqi Liao,Paul R Mouncey,David A Harrison,Kathryn M Rowan,Peter Horby,Peter J. Watkinson,Julia Hippisley-Cox +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the associations between SARS-CoV-2 infection with and without lineage B.1.7 and admission to a critical care unit (CCU), 28-day mortality, and overall mortality following CCU admission.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association Between Race and COVID-19 Outcomes Among 2.6 Million Children in England.
Defne Saatci,Tom Alan Ranger,Cesar Garriga,Ash Kieran Clift,Francesco Zaccardi,Pui San Tan,Martina Patone,Carol Coupland,Anthony Harnden,Simon J. Griffin,Kamlesh Khunti,Hajira Dambha-Miller,Julia Hippisley-Cox +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the association between race and childhood COVID-19 testing and hospital outcomes, and found that Asian children were more likely to be admitted to intensive care (adjusted OR, 2.11; 95% CI, 1.93-2.10) and Black children (2.14; 95%) had comparable hospital admissions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of Myocarditis After Sequential Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine and SARS-CoV-2 Infection by Age and Sex
Martina Patone,Xue W Mei,Lahiru Handunnetthi,Sharon Dixon,Francesco Zaccardi,Manu Shankar-Hari,Peter J. Watkins,Kamlesh Khunti,Anthony Harnden,Carol Coupland,Keith M. Channon,Nicholas L. Mills,Aziz Sheikh,Julia Hippisley-Cox +13 more
TL;DR: The risk of myocarditis is greater after SARS-CoV-2 infection than after COVID-19 vaccination and remains modest after sequential doses including a booster dose of BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine, however, the risk ofMyocarditis after vaccination is higher in younger men, particularly after a second dose of the mRNA-1273 vaccine.
