Teruaki Mukaiyama,Isamu Shiina,Hayato Iwadare,Masahiro Saitoh,Toshihiro Nishimura,Naoto Ohkawa,Hiroki Sakoh,Koji Nishimura,Yu Ichirou Tani,Masatoshi Hasegawa,Koji Yamada,Katsuyuki Saitoh +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the total asymmetric synthesis of the antitumor agent Taxol is described. And a method of forming Taxol from baccatin III and a β-amino acid is also demonstrated.

Asymmetric Total Synthesis of Taxol
Teruaki Mukaiyama,Isamu Shiina,Hayato Iwadare,Hiroki Sakoh,Yu Ichirou Tani,Masatoshi Hasegawa,Katsuyuki Saitoh +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, an asymmetric total synthesis of Taxol and 8-demethyltaxoids 24-27 from the 8-membered ring compounds 29 and 12 respectively were completed via successive formation of the BC ring system by intramolecular aldol reaction, then the ABC ring system utilizing an intramerolecular pinacol cyclization.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new method for the synthesis of baccatin iii
Isamu Shiina,Hayato Iwadare,Hiroki Sakoh,Masatoshi Hasegawa,Yu Ichirou Tani,Teruaki Mukaiyama +5 more
TL;DR: Baccatin III was efficiently synthesized from the BC ring system of Taxol, 2α,10β-dibenzyloxy-11β-(t-butyldimethylsil-oxy)-7β-hydroxy-1α-(4-methoxybenzyloxy)-8β,15,15-trimethyl-4-methylene-trans-bic...

Journal ArticleDOI
Stereocontrolled Synthesis of the BC Ring System of Taxol
Isamu Shiina,Hayato Iwadare,Hiroki Sakoh,Yu Ichirou Tani,Masatoshi Hasegawa,Katsuyuki Saitoh,Teruaki Mukaiyama +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an 8-membered ring enone 3 was synthesized from the linear optically active polyoxy-compound 4 by SmI2-mediated intramolecular aldol cyclization.
