Historical stream salinity trends and catchment salt balances in the Murray-Darling Basin, Australia

TL;DR: In this article, a study of historical stream salinity trends and catchment salt balances within the Murray-Darling Basin, Australia is presented, where a broad analysis of stream salinization is necessary to assist prediction of the increase in the effect and extent of dryland salinity across the basin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impacts of irrigation and dryland development on groundwater discharge to rivers - a unit response approach to cumulative impacts analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the effect and timing of changes to recharge on groundwater discharge to a river is investigated. But the authors focus on the effects of the development of the Bookpurnong Irrigation Area (Loxton, South Australia) and compared with the existing estimates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biophysical modelling of catchment-scale surface water and groundwater response to land-use change

TL;DR: The predicted future effect of a range of afforestation strategies on catchment salt load has been simulated for sub-catchments of the mid-Macquarie (New South Wales, Australia) using a logistic function model that weights changes in recharge to changes in discharge according to a characteristic time-scale and a rate of change.
