Nowadays, the application of data mining is widely prevalent in the education system. The ability of data mining to obtain meaningful information from meaningless data makes it very useful to predict students’ achievement, university’s performance, and many more. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the numbers of student who do not manage to graduate on time rise dramatically every year. This challenging scenario worries many parties, especially university management teams. They have to timely devise strategies in order to enhance the students’ academic achievement and discover the main factors contributing to the timely graduation of undergraduate students. This paper discussed the factors utilized by other researchers from previous studies to predict students’ graduation time and to study the impact of different types of factors with different prediction methods. Taken together, findings of this research confirmed the usefulness of Neural Network and Support Vector Machine as the most competitive classifiers compared with Naïve Bayes and Decision Tree. Furthermore, our findings also indicate that the academic assessment was a prominent factor when predicting students’ graduation time.

Review on Predicting Students’ Graduation Time Using Machine Learning Algorithms

The Smart Energy Community topic has attracted a lot of interest from policy, research centres, companies and private citizens since 2018, when in Europe the recast of the Renewable Energy Directive, and later in 2019 the Internal Electricity Market Directive, came into force to support the new role of users in energy systems. Following these directives, energy community experimentations, real projects and/or simulations and case studies have been developed and investigated in the literature. In this review paper, an investigation of recent literature about Smart Energy Communities in terms of common characteristics, fundamental scopes, and principal indexes used for their evaluation, has been realized by considering 111 scientific references, 78 of which have been published since 2018. The reference papers have been selected through the “Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analysis” methodology. In developing the review, significant barriers to Smart Energy Communities’ diffusion emerged. The main shortcomings concern citizens’ uncertainty about these new projects, due to their poor information and technical skills. These issues often hide energy, economic, environmental, and social benefits of Smart Energy Communities. Therefore, this study wants to be an opportunity for bringing to the attention of citizens Smart Energy Communities’ positive outcomes, especially from the social point of view, thus boosting their spreading and overcoming still existing criticalities.

Reliability of Power Systems

Performance of distance protection of a double-circuit power transmission line under inter-circuit faults is analysed. A new algorithm for fault-loop impedance measurement designed for such faults is presented. Selected results of evaluation of the developed algorithm and its comparison with the algorithm designed for standard faults are included and discussed. Streszczenie. Przeanalizowano dzialanie zabezpieczenia odleglościowego dwutorowej linii elektroenergetycznej podczas zwarc miedzy torami linii. Zaprezentowano nowy algorytm pomiaru impedancji petli zwarciowej, przeznaczony dla tych zwarc. Przedstawiono i omowiono wybrane rezultaty testowania opracowanego algorytmu i jego porownania z algorytmem zaprojektowanym dla zwarc standardowych. The paper presents the defined conception of the agent structure of the multi-agent system that performs the tasks of power system protection. The required input data sets and the input agents that provide observability of the power system were determined. The paper also proposes the agent input data acquisition ways that allow fast access to power system status information. The proposal of agents' attributes that define their functionality in spatially and layered distributed structure of the multi-agent systems was also discussed. The paper presents also the simulation results evolving from the implementation of the agents' functionalities in the digital power line distance protections.

Agent model of multi-agent system for area power system protection

Until now, electricity users are being connected to the LV networks by a physical electricity consumption point. In this point an electricity meter is assigned to each and every one user. A given user may use the flowing electricity only by the meter assigned to him at the consumer-specific point. This is a significant limitation in the non- restricted access to the power network. The Authors come with an idea to eliminate this restriction. The paper presents the concept of virtualization of a physical point of electric power consumption in a LV network. The proposed novel idea of using the power network will ensure the expected non-restricted access to any point of the power network for users. This seems particularly important nowadays and is dictated by the growing expectations of users’ mobility. The presented concept is dedicated especially to networks in the form of clusters (cooperatives) or energy clouds. Its application in LV networks will significantly simplify the users’ use of the power infrastructure, also in the aspect of financial settlements. This should also contribute to the rapid significant development of electro- mobility.

Complex phase shifting transformer protection scheme and complexity of the object itself created a need to use simulation programs for their analysis. Often phase shifting transformer (PST) are modeled as a simplified series impedance and quadrature voltage source which cannot be used for power system protection analysis, especially in a transient condition. Therefore, the procedure of building realistic PST model was presented by using available transformer models with calculation of their parameters including interconnections between units. Paper consist calculations based on case study with symmetrical dual-core PST example. Additionally, theoretical background of PST principle, operation, and their impact of power system protection were introduced with numerus examples of PST model verification.
